For some time I have wanted to beat the game untwinked, it has been ages since the last time I did that. I have started few characters to try it but I got bored every time. I didn't want to play another standard build, and doing hudreds of MF runs to make some uncommon build fun to play wasn't what I was after either.

Some time ago (maybe ~3 weeks) I started a MP group with my brother and 2 friends of mine. On last friday we beat the crap out of hell Baal and all 4 characters were rewarded with Patriarch status :D

I played the necro, my brother was controlling the shockadin and my friends (schoolmates) played the frost zealot and fire/summon/hunter druid. We spent about 1-2 hours each day playing these toons during 3 weeks of time.

Each of us chose a character they wanted to play. My friend had always wanted to build somekind of a huntermentalist druid and my brother wanted some kind of a pally, maybe shockadin. That was when I decided to play necro who is there mostly for party support. When we were halfway through normal act 1 i asked one more guy is he wants to play with us, and he agreed. I asked him if he would like to play frost pally and it was ok with him. Thats how we got the cold element in our party.

As you can see from character stats, there is one build for each element (fire, cold, lighning) and then the necro, who supports everyone else with curses, CE and very durable golem. Everyone took a different act 2 merc (boring, I know) and after that we had a very respectable amount of auras.

Playing through the game was *much* easier than I thought. We did MF runs but only few (~50 NM Meph/Council/Countess runs?). We didn't do full clears either. We just went ahead and crushed almost everything, even in hell difficulty. Our gear isn't too good, we used only 2 imbues and 1 socketing quest...and still, we didn't have any real problems. For example, we played through hell act 2 on p4 (there is 4 of us ;)) in bit over 1 hour. The builds are not too optimized in any way either, the 2 friends of mine have never beaten the game in 1.10/1.11, and I didn't want to tell them how to place every skill/stat point. It is much better to try things and experiment. After all, good party is much more than the sum of its parts, and bonuses from other characters forgive many mistakes in character plan.

Dropwise, I think we were lucky bastards. WWS, Hone, Viperskin, Moser's,...all those in the few runs we made. Hellforges were nice too, thats how we got rune for Duress. We haven't used our hell HF rewards yet, but we could make Oath or Obedience as soon as we would find good base items. The Metalgrid dropped in Ancient Tunnels, we decided to clear it for some experience (and potential good drop ^^).

Hell act 4 (Plains of Despair) and hell act 5 were hardest, but usually just one of us died and the rest of the team cleared the area near the corpse. The hardest situation was in Throne, where we met a migh + extra strong + curses pack of Venom Lords, and everyone got horrible lag at the same time. Everyone except my necro died and dropped. We pwned them hard after people rejoined though ;)

All act bosses were really easy and dropped junk as always

I really hope we can do this again in near future, much more fun than playing my other characters with almost the best gear available

I always wanted to do an untwinked static party like this. When i was on bnet and the ladder reset, I had one planed but one person didnt show up, another left...things turned ugly.
Congrats to all 4 of you, musta been a good time playin

Congrats! there's always fun to see some untwinked characters. Twinked ones tend to end up with very similar equipment.
