Help with Messaging

OK I tried a trade last night and screwed it up badly. I could see the guy's messages but he couldn't see mine.

What am I doing wrong?
Is there a guide to in-game messaging somewhere?

Any help much appreciated.

It sounds like you might just be typing the text in normally. If you need to message someone outside of your game/channel, you will need to use /m before his name/account.

For example, if you wanted to message someone who had the account name AccountName, and character name CharName, you could do one of the following:

/m *AccountName hello

/m CharName hello


In both cases, he'll get the message "hello". When someone messages you, you'll see both their character name, and their account name. It'll appear something like CharName(*AccountName).

If the person is in the same game as you, or the same channel, then you won't need to do anything special.

Edit: Note: Instead of /m, you could also use /w, /whisper or some other aliases that I cannot think of at the moment. They all do the exact same thing though, they're just different methods.
