Hi, I have a nightmare act 2 holy freeze merc with Infinity polearm and eth stealskull (IAS, FHR, LL). The problem is, he doesn't last too long in hell. What is the best armor I can equip him with to help him survive?

My top picks would probably be:
- Chains of Honour
- Shaftop (Socketed with Perfect Ruby)
- Stone
- Gladiator's Bane (Socketed with Perfect Ruby)
Shaftstop would be a good armor, and I would probably switch out the stealskull for a tal's mask, since it has twice as much leech, plus all resist to boot.
For a merc, it's all about life leech. Since you'll most likey want to keep the infinity polearm, the only way to improve your leech is through your helm and armor, but I can't think of any armor that gives life leech at the moment.

thank you for your inputs. now, am I looking for an eth shaft or a regular ~500 d one?

Eth would do better, but a normal one would work. If you can't even afford that, Duriel's shell is good too, with the resist + CBF. The +str is just gravy, especially if you are using an eth CV insight.

Greyform, Boneflesh or Skin of the Flayed One come to mind. There are probably more, though.
But then... I've never used any of these as endgame gear for a merc (or myself :-)), even the Skelemancer mercs (which have next to no requirements except +skills --- which none of these armors provides).
best armors out there if u want dmg and survivability would be some of these:
eth up'd shaft 2k+ def
eth forts (probably get ones that are cube glitch'd)
eth cohs if necessary but these are a bit harder to find
eth duriels aint bad also
if u want him to survive for ll, then put on a eth gaze or eth andys (norm andys would work also) since these give a nice ll bonus espically andys gives a nice str bonus too! if choosing andys, be sure to ral it to cancel out the -30% fire resistance.
