View Full Version : Help explain DR to a pvp noob
Hey folks,
Some items give you a set number to dr: ring with damaged reduced by 2 or something. Is this damage reduced BEFORE or AFTER the pvp penalty?
Say my opponent does 20 dmg, pvp penalty later, he's about 3 dmg. Will my ring take that down to 1 dmg, or reduce his initial 20 dmg to 18 dmg?

PvP Penalty is always first. Then comes Cyclone armor, bone armor and energy shield. Then comes Damage reduce% or resistance %. Then comes absorb%. As the last, comes straight reduces, like "damage reduced by 2". And yes, that example u made, is vry correct. But i suggest u rather go for percent than the straight dmg, coz the straight dmg will only save u the life amount in says, while percent can be huge: 3 000 physical dmg with 50% damage reduce. (3000*0.17)*0.5=255, while let's say "damage reduced by 25": (3000*0.17)-25=485.

only absrob linears come after their %'s.. but mdr, and DR come before their resistance %'s
order of dmg goes (lifted from tommis site)
1. XvX
2. Energy Shield
3. Bone Armor and Cyclone Armor
4. DR and MDR
5. Resistances (includes -DR%)
6. % Absorb
7. Direct Absorb
1) talking PvP so its 17%
4) "DR" is damge reduction as seen on Sol runes (as i call it; -DR)
MDR is magic dmg reduction as seen on Mal runes
5) resistances include your physical dmg reduction x% (as i call it; -DR%)
it is formulated just like elemental resistance but not listed (like magic resistance)
example;
1k listed vs player with -50dr and 50%dr
1000 * 17% = 170 pvp
170 pvp - 50dr = 120 pvp
120 pvp -50% = 60 pvp
final dmg is 60 pvp
