Not a newcomer but this is certainly a newbie question...

Why do people leave the party when it comes to killing Baal at the end of a run? I have noticed lately that if there are any high level characters in the game they will normally leave the main party then reform a new party.

I am guessing it's related to experience? but i didn't think that much experience was received from killing Baal...

Depends which difficulty level we are talking about. For Normal and Nightmare I can see leaving the party so that they don't get credit for the quest and have to move on to the next difficulty level. But if this is in Hell then I have no idea, sounds odd to me.

Reason for it is more exp for them. and, specialy at 98 you get very little exp from all the minions.

In hell games the reason is that many people do it just for the XP. As long as you aren't higher then L93 or so, the Baal minions give more XP than Baal and it takes some time to kill him, so for them it's a waste of time. Regarding drops, Baal is quite good at it, of course, but in public games you often have trouble with players who just lurk for snatching his drop.

It is for xp reasons.

An example with some average XP:
If you are level 93 you get 1 million from the minions and 150.000 from Baal, so Baal is not needed.
At level 94 you get 700.000 from the minions and 120.000 from Baal, Baal is still not needed.
At level 95 you get arround 200.000 from minions and 100.000 from Baal, so Baal starts to be needed.
You get more XP from Baal if you are killing in a party of 'lets say 4' in an 8 player game. Something like 150.000 instead of 100.000 and thats why higher chars make a Baalparty and if you are at lower level you should be fair and let them get the final hit. You get enough of the minions, but for them it is a pain to get XP. Things get even worse at higher levels, as you can imagine.
