you hear them talk because they've added you to their friends list. You either gave them your account name or they asked you for it and they added you to their friends list. You can do this by bringing up the chat window(hit enter) and then typing "/f add (accountname)" without the quotation marks. For instance, let's say one of your friend's accountname was rogersmith. If you wanted to add him to your friends list you'd type "/f add rogersmith" without the quotation marks in the chatwindow. Make sure you type in the account name and not the character name as many people have different characters. The account name is the one you sign in with when you enter battlenet. Then when you want to send a message to one or all of your friends, you go "/f msg" without the quotation marks. For instance if you wanted to say "hey everybody" you'd type "/f msg hey everybody."

Hope that helps. I don't know anything about the zod rune

Well unless your playing hardcore, i wouldent worry about the bounty. Pretty sad when ppl will pay someone to player kill you. The problem will prolly just go away. I had someone actively "hunting" me before because i pissed him off. No big deal he never even killed me, just whispered cus words at me.

The "/f m" command sends that message to all on your friends list, it can be anoying when the person in question is not one of your friends at all. It's better to use the "/w *acc name" or "/w char name", you type that once and later use the arrow up key to edit your message.
About the zod for your ear, probably just some one who's pulling your leg.

Zod for your ear sounds fair. If someone gave a zod for mine, I would let a friend kill me, hand my ear to him and take the zod. :D That is of course, if you are playing softcore.

thanks for pointing this out. i get tired of having to ask ppl "are you saying this to me?" use the /w *accname it's less annoying. :)

If people are messaging you and it's irritating, squelch them with /squelch <account name>. If they're on your friend list (and I'm assuming they're friends) just either tell them to use /w. Another method to get text off the screen is to press 'n.' That erased all the text on your screen. Pretty helpful when you're playing and those damn bots join and start flooding.

grz,

TBthe difference is m will go to everyone in your buddy list whereas whispering only goes to the person you're whispering to

/m works like /w unless it's been changed. I've used /m ever since I started playing D2 back in classic before LoD. I suppose it stands for /message just as /w is /whisper.
