View Full Version : How do I catch those charging Foh'ers and pesky trappers with my enigma hammerdin?
I really need some help with this. I only duel in public, and can usually duel most character as long they aren't '1337' or bm/nk beyond all recognition. When face to face with any trappers who BoS or Foh'er that charges around, I hit the wall.
The main problem with FoH'er is the sheer difficulty in catching them with tele-on-top hammer, whilst they can take me out in under 4 FoH.
For trappers it's even worse. Mind blast and lightning strength immobilizes me and preventing me from teleport, I can charge around but eventually the traps will wear me out.
I'm by no mean an experienced dueller, but I really need some tips/guides on how to deal with these builds.
My current setup gives me 11k Hammer damage, 125fcr/86fhr, 3.3k life and 55/75/75/75 resistance.
Any help would be appreciated.
Desync charge + invisi hammerfield
works for both except a very defensive trapper. For FoH, if you can, change your armor to Guardian Angel with "ort" or um'ed. For either, one way to desync is to charge/move outside of their radar and vigor charge in at them. You can usually catch some pubbies before the server catches up and displays you on their screen/map.
if you want to see a demonstration, the easiest place is in Classic hell duel games. Since enigma doesn't exist, good hammerdins more or less have to use charge + hammerfields to kill.

1. Absorb like its 1699. Lightsabre, Wisps, 2 lo 2 ptopaz monarch, GA, TGods, w/e is at your disposal.
2. Talk trash in town.
Its near impossible to beat a defensive Trapper w/o some sort of tankage on your side. The ones stupid enough to keep chasing you you can get with a lucky hammer here and there. FoHers are relatively easy. Don't tele on them, but just desynch and guess where their next paths will be, and just Hammer everywhere around them. Eventually, its either you or him.

Since this is public I'm bound to get into a battle royal, too much absorb/stacking will severe my survivability against other classes...

AR won't be an issue for the trapper, perhaps only against the FoHer. Most trappers have around 2-3k def maximum and even with a level 1 Charge you should have plenty of AR to hit that kind of target. FoHers also generally have low def but some will max out Holy Shield and potentially even have smite on backup (v/t build) and those can have upwards of 10k def which may be a problem. However, charge is only half of your arsenal with a Grief Phase in your hands. With even a low level Holy Shield you should be able to get a pretty nasty Smite.
This is definately doable, this build (charge/hammers) is called a Liberator by the paladin forum or Libby for short. Having a smite on backup only makes you more versatile and dangerous.
stack resist + greif pb + smite.
I stack sorb, put salv on and just charge lock them. Telein top hammer is almost impossible on trappers, esp the ones who jsut stand there cast trapps and mb themselves.

Trappers are much harder.
They are able to attack you while saving their own *** cause they don't have to cast/shoot anything. So their main focus is running/teleing away.
My suggestion would be running around their traps (wouldn't recommend teleing) while staying off their screen so they can't MB you. Wait till you feel most of her traps are out. Tele in and try to get a good hammer in while she resets her traps.

you can desynch hammer trappers too or tele on them when you are desynched. also you can try using charge's autolock to get right below them and hammer. if all else fails slap on tgods and u'll probalby eventually get her with hamemrs if she's ultra defensive you might wanna put on charge weapon. or just play defensively if you are outnumbered and outmatched. few pubs can kill a defensive hammerdin.
