I have a 3 socket mage plate normal. Can I up it to archon?
If I cant, should I make an enigma out of it anyways.

No, you won't be able to upgrade your mage plate. You can only upgrade rares and uniques. Even then, you can only upgrade uniques on ladder.

As for the enigma, I don't know. I guess it would depend on the situation.

Actually, on non-ladder you can up normal unique items into the exceptional version, but you cannot up exceptionals into elites.

Magefists, for instance, can be upped once on non-ladder, whereas on ladder they can be double-upped.

Ugh..thats what I mean. My bad, I mean to say "you can only upgrade exceptional uniques on ladder"....
