I saw a post which mentioned in passing that if you're using chain lightning, that there's no point in getting FCR above 117% unless you're going to get 200% (I think it was 200).
Is that correct, and if so, why?
194% actually. The breakpoints for (Chain) Lightning/Inferno are a bit different from the default casting animation.

so you're saying it's 194 not 200, but that the 117 is correct?

I can only get my FCR to 80%, should that be an issue?

Thats basically correct.
As rtb says the cl break is at 194 but if you are going so high then 200 is the next break for teleport which is more important so best to go for that anyway.

you'll want to hit the 117 fcr minimum with a lightning sorc, helps your teleport tremendously and really increases your ability to cast while being swung at which makes you more durable as lightning tends to stun monsters
