... and i have no idea what to do with it. i asked my friends list for a couple of suggestions, and two answers came up: a berzerker barb and a zealot. well, i never play pallies because they walk funny :D so i want to build around it.

i have never actually made a zerker, and i really love whirlwind, so i'm not sure what to do. i've been looking through the guides and i have some specific questions (btw, this is purely pvm):

(1) a little confused on ww speed. the awesome guide of xpumafangx stated that dcleaver hits the last ww bp without the need for any extra ias. just want to verify this.
(2) i've heard of stories of polearm barbs 1-hit killing pretty much everything in hell with berzerk. does this also apply if i use dc and a shield? i'm a little hesitant using berzerk in hc, but if it makes for a more fun build then i'm all for it.
(3) if i do plan on whirlwind, then i have two gear choices:
a) highlords/any boots (i really like travs, but i'm open to suggestions)
b) cats eye/gore riders (i'm a fan of speedy barbs)

with gear (a), is there a reason to max mastery? highlords/dc gives me almost 100% deadly, and even 1 point in mastery +skills will almost guarantee me double damage every time. this saves me a couple more points, which i can put into more defensive skills.

with gear (b), i don't necessarily do double damage all the time, but i do get cb, r/w and dex. is r/w + ww that big of an issue, being that r/w makes ww hit less?

thanks in advance. hopefully this time around i get responses, because i'm not too popular in this forum >< for some reason the barbs hate me

Yes 40 ias on DC is neough for lat ww break point so go and put in that nice ed jewel ;)

Nothing more to add up.

My DC ww barb gear.( I mostly play PvM (sp))

Areats or Guliams(I like the looks of it) but areats is my most used right now.
Duress(I know I should use other armor for PvM but I like it)
Gores Draculas.
Metalgrid, Raven, rare with dueal leech.
Sshield.
verdungos.

Various AR rez and SKill charms.

This char is by far best barb I ever had.So its up to you what gear you will choose.

p.s And yes pallies walk funny....not talking about how they run:teeth:

oh that's good that it hits the ww bp. i might put a shael in it anyway, because i don't have a good jewel yet, and i just love being able to zerk away quickly (the 1-point wonder :D ) i'll check up/test out a base dc first before i decide what to socket it with, but just knowing that it hits the last bp definitely makes me :D

i heard that the lifetap on dracs do not work with ww. i have to check on that. my first choice was laying of hands, because i like to do travincal runs with my barbs. my last one was a polearm barb with tomb reaver and he was good fun; i hope this one is fun too :)

i was shooting for: (don't have most of this yet, mfing in hc is definitely not as fast as getting rich in sc)

arreats
stormshield
lionheart (i think this is slightly better than duress if you already have 100 deadly? not sure...)
laying of hands
ravenfrost
dual leech ring (only source of mana leech)

and the rest, i haven't decided. i used string of ears last season, because it is a bit cheaper than verdungos and has some nice leech, but i do understand why people would want verdungos. the ammy/boots question is still up in the air too, but i'm leaning towards cats/gores. not sure if metalgrid is what i want, as it seems a bit weaker than other alternatives, but it dure does add a lot of defense.

thanks for the reply!

Yes, Life Tap does not trigger with whirlwind.

People use Verdungo's instead of string for the +vit, since the leech on string of ears doesn't do anything in PvP. Similarly, the 10% FHR and higher defense make it somewhat desireable as well. However, for PvM, I still think String is a better belt.

I'd go with the Highlord's and War Travs (damage, life, MF). Highlord's + Cleaver = 100% ds at higher levels :)

LoH are nice gloves. Most people still use dracs with whirlwind in PvP, because of the Open Wounds. Since you're PvM though, LoH/IK Gloves/Crafted Blood Gloves all make for nice additions.

i bow to the supreme baba god :D thanks for the reply mr hal

highlord's + travs also means i do not have to max mastery to get double damage. sure, it also does increase actual damage, but this frees up a few skill points to be used elsewhere. maybe i can dump some points into warcry (always wanted to try that skill) or possibly more in nat res, shout, or any other defensive spells.

i'm so excited to see how this turns out :) excpet i can't afford anything else at the moment; this project will have to take the back seat. i'll post results if i ever get around to making him.

I know how it turns out. You will be going to town every 5 minutes to repair your weapon. :D

LoH vs. good blood gloves, I'd say blood gloves...
