View Full Version : Wolfbarb or Thrower PvM?

I am going to make one of the two (maybe both), and I was wondering which would be more fun, not necessarily better. If anyone has any experience with either of these builds, let me know of your experiences.

Thrower. It's by far the funnest character I've ever made.

A thrower will probably kill quicker but you will be running out of ammo fast with double throw, even with high stack weapons. Eg. would be 2 pairs of gimmershreds of a pair of lacerators + a pair of gimmershreds. Demon's Arch or other unique javelins just run out too quickly even though they have full screen range.

I have an off-topic question: Does a throwing axe count as an axe AND a throwing weapon when dealing with masteries?

Counts as "throwing" when being thrown, boosted by throwing mastery only

counts as "axe" when being used in melee, boosted by axe mastery only

javelin class in melee counts as "spear"

They should make Daggers count as Swords for the Mastery.

With enough AR items and high level (30+) frenzy, a dual fleshripper frenzy barb is still godly even though they don't have masteries. You can put those points into maxing double swing and shout instead. The fleshripper has -50% target defense which helps the AR problem.

I love my wolfbarb i can beat throwers easy with it and can never die pvm to anything but iron maiden and thats going ebotd/beast.

I also love when i pvp with him the pubby guyz come out zeal me expecting me to be a fury druid and get ripped apart. So my wolfie just stands there with 30k defense 8k life and ownz them with ebotdz :lol:(4 shael griz caddy is good but i find that a ebotd zerker is fast enough)

20(26 with skills, Arreat's Face adds 4, Highlord's Wrath adds 1, Battle Command adds 1) Frenzy, 9 Double Swing, and 10 Taunt has 367% damage. Almost 40 points for 361-1,375 Frenzy Damage(281%Fleshrippers, 138 strength, 86 Dexterity), excluding Deadly Strike. Not that great.

But, even with Sword Mastery that doesn't come out with more. 375% from 10 DS/10 Taunt/26 Frenzy and 375% with 1 DS/1 Taunt/26 Frenzy/24 Sword Mastery. You do have the +212% AR and extra 22% Critical Strike, though.

If you like to visit the vendors every half a minute and find that fun then by all means make a thrower :)

Sorry to say but Wolfbarbs are great fun too. Ultimate tank lol :D

If not, they should be. If only I was in charge...

As for most fun, I'd go with thrower. Unfortunately, bowbarbs are even more fun again. Or boxers. Boxers rule.

then reply "... noobs... wolfhowl maybe??" then change to barb and do ownage BO :thumbsup:
