Just discovered ATMA program. I would like to trade itmes from my early game, which the paladin had killer items. Is it fair to put it on my new character? EXP I am going to get the Horadric Cube. And an armor. IS it fair? Do you guys use it?

(sorry for the spelling, i write fast)

A lot of people in the Single Player forum use ATMA to mule/store/trade their items, so it's fair.

Sorry for dragging up such an old thread, but

I guess I should have checked which forum this was posted on first....sorry.

Pretty much on the single player forum the thread's author has been busted for using ATMA to dupe runes....

I just assumed he posted this on the SPF and bumped it for humor.

In singleplayer, everything you do is ok since obviously you are the only one affected.

As far as trading items is concerned: the same effect could be achieved by running two games and trading the item (in singleplayer, one CD key can be used to run any number of games).

Ehh, so how do you define fair? When a lot of people in a place do something? I know a lot of people who cheat does that turn it fair? Of course not. On the other hand, as long as you stick to single player, there really is no issue of fairness though. The problem with Diablo 2 is that there is no real single player since it is the same as open multiplayer. But if you stick to single player, then yes you might call it fair (or unfair, but still no problem). As for open multiplayer, probably depends on who you ask and what you do with it, some will call it fair, others not.

It is also worth noticing that if you want to strictly believe and follw the EULA (which this site do I believe), you would be in violation of it when using ATMA even in just single player.

So? As long as it is in single player, what does that do? And considering it is a single player forum....

Not sure what you wanted to say, that it is OK because there is some other way without the program to do it? By that reasoning a lot of things not considered "good" should be allowed too, no?

To reply to the original poster, yes, it is my own opinion that ATMA is both fair and a great program with many uses. It has potential for cheating but as long as you stay away from that, it should be no problem but check out with others you come in contact with in case you want to use it for open multiplayer.

Using ATMA for muling is ok. Players on the realms mule their items plus have advantages (extra runewords and items (anni, torch)).

ATMA lets you create mules for permanent storage. Players on the realms create mules for permanent storage.

It is possible to use ATMA to dupe (although that is in the menue.) Just don't use it that way and you have not cheated.

I define fair as when a group of people have decided that it's fair. The SPF have decided that the use of ATMA is fair in their community, ergo, ATMA is now fair in the SPF.

I know a lot of people who cheat does that turn it fair? Of course not.
Obviously....

No one can control what others do on their computers. If people want to cheat/hack/whatever in SP, they are free to as long as they don't try as spread it around to others and ruin their enjoyment of the game. They just won't be able to trade/MP/give stuff away.

In many established countries, the regulations as defined in the constition of the state can be ignored as long as the purpose provides reasonable grounds. I believe it's the same case with ATMA.

So? As long as it is in single player, what does that do? And considering it is a single player forum....

He was attempting to trade. The moral standards of the SP community are very high when it comes to items, bar the fact that everyone uses ATMA, and some use RTB's Mods.

The fact the site allows atma should show that it is allright.

I don't want to be rude but this has been talked about alot and 99% of people in the SPF accept atma as not cheating.
There are a few purists that do not use that and im not sure if they still play or not though there were one or two.
