I am a strafer eventually with a windforce. I don't have a WW. I am concerned about PI's in Hell. Would a Kuko on a switch with FI work to kill these guys? If so, do I need alot of skill points there? If not, would the WF kill them anyway? (I don't see how). I'd rather not depend on the Valk and merc to kill these guys. Thanks. Also, I am non ladder so my Merc will not have a reaper.

the kuko will fire explosive arrows only on normal attack....a few points in the cold tree will take care of any fire/phys immunes that you may run into.

i've found that having a harmony on switch and just strafing with that works well against pi's. it's also a very easy rw to make and the vigor aura is always fun to get places quick.

Thanks, but I am not on the ladder.

I will add some skill points into FA. Any thoughts on how many are needed?

A lot, so I wouldn't add many unless you're willing to commit to it. You'll need to max not only freezing arrow, but its damage synergy, and you'll need 100% pierce. It's extremely effective if you do, but it's not a skill you just put one point into.

You don't need to max FA AND it's synergy. If you're willing to spend 20 points FA will kill and it's splash damage will help to keep monsters frozen. But you don't need 20 points there to help kill PI's in hell. Yes it will be slow but it will get it done. It will give your valk and merc time to get there and begin to help you out. If you have 30 skill points to spare, maxed FA and 10 in cold arrow is awesome. Pierce helps a lot, too.

When I was still building my character, I found that lower level freezing arrow wasn't very effective. It doesn't do much damage, but it still drains a ton of mana. Physical immunes are second only to cold immunes for worst target to use freezing arrow on, without the leech you're out of mana before you even put a dent in them.

Even with leech, it will drain mana. But with leech, your bulb will fill back up again pretty quickly when you switch back to strafe. You can just keep switching back and forth. You may not have to use too many pots that way.

Atma ammy (never remember how to spell the 2nd word lol) take care of PI pretty well, especially when pair up with WF. Just wear it in area of PI and switch back to ur ias ammy later.

But the point is he's talking about using it to deal with physical immunes. Leech isn't going to exist, so he's going to find himself out of mana well before he kills the target unless he's got the skill maxed.

I was wondering about this very same problem with the WF.
Have you thought about maxing Magic Arrow?? With a windforce the amount of damage converted to Magic Damage would be astronomical. AND the damage would just keep getting better and better with +skill points and +bow skill points.
I have a WitchWildString strafer zon and with her lvl 20 Magic Arrow she can take Hell Diablo with her upped 170% WWS socketed with 31%ED/shael. PI's are never a problem even if the Amp Damage never kicks in.
Also Amp damage does not work on every monster. Some will not break even if Amp Damage does kick in. Here with Knockback and my little lvl 20 Magic Arrow these guys are never a problem.
With the WWS I safe 20 skill points which I use to max Valk and synergise her with extra points put into Decoy. If you leave valk at 17 and forget decoy the extra damage from the WF should make up the difference easy.
Grabbing a WWS or Atma's Scarab could be enough for you but if you do decide to go with MA let me know how it works out for you.
PS: If you put a WWS in switch you could always use it's lvl 20 MA and save skill points too ;) :D

I will give that some thought.
Let's see....
20 in Strafe
10 in Penetrate
17 in Valk
8 in Pierce
Pre-Req's
I would not start Magic Arrow until the 60's. Hell might be tough until the 80's then. And that is with Penetrate kind of low. It is an idea though. It is also possible that Magic at 10 would be enough as well.
I might try that. If I do, I will let you know.
