The word Alchemist as I am using it is a term for the show "Fullmetal Alchemist", which I rather enjoy.

Anyways, would this build work-

20- Golem Mastery (Improved Golem)
20- Iron Golem (Main skill)
10- Lower Resist (Bspear Dmg)
10- Iron Maiden (Damage returned)
5- Revive (meatshields)
5- Bone wall (Synergy)
5- bone prison (Synergy)
Rest- Bspear (backup)

This build gives you iron golem for damage, Revives for meatshields, and a medium damage attack for backup.

The main idea here is to start doing some mephy runs and getting medium weapon items that are okay, but not good enough to sell. This will allow you to give these items to the new necromancer, and once he hits 18 or so craft one of the items into his golem. With some minor backup, the necro could pretty much coast through normal, and nightmare. For hell you would need to find a weapon that is pretty good, with CB or OW. The strong golem + mercenary + Bonespear backup could kill a lot of monsters in hell. If you got a mid-high element weapon into a golem, immunes wouldn't be a problem, as you have 2 phys dmg, 1 elemental damage, and 1 magic damage attack going at once. If you run into a Element/Magic/Physical immune combined, get the hell out!

Anyways the main plan in battle:

Teleport to the group of enemies and run to a safe position. This will get your golem and merc fighting the group. From there, look for corpses to unleash revives to attack/distract. Then line yourself up and spam bspear. +Skill items will help, even +10 skills will get bspear to a medium damage, enough for backup.

I made a necro like this once, got him to 84 about, casted iron maiden and lower resist on the stack, got in position, and spammed bspear. Iwas able to solo worldstone fairly easy.

It is a nice change from other necro builds.

Equipment:
Helmet: Rare Circlet/ Harlequin/ Oth
Armor: Enigma, no doubt about it.
Belt: Arach pretty much.
Gloves: Trangs/Other
Shield: Trangs/ Homoculus
Weapon: King leoric/White
Jewelry: SoJ/SoJ/Mara's, or other.
Boots: Some fast ones.

Iron Golem: I usually craft mine out of gore riders. You could throw in a high-element damage one, or something like gores.

Acknowledgement would be nice ^_^

Isn't IK maul better AND cheaper? In terms of CB, that is.

"Magic" isn't displayed among your four main resistances, so the Lower Resists-curse does not "help" Bonespear (think it used to in a previous patch), which deals magic damage.

The term "Alchemist" isn't invented by some japanese author, who draws manga, but used to describe a person, who practices alchemy - a medieval chemical philosophy with the aim of transmuting base metals into gold. ;)

Must have been the other patch i was thinking of...then life tap/other curse up there.

Monkey: Duh? I know that, nowhere in my post did I say "TEH ATHER OF FMA MADE ALKEMI!!!!!!1", but FMA is a show which I am fond of. Thanks,

Edit: And by the way, no one gave me advice on whether this would work or not..?

I like the show, and I like the idea, but you will need some major tweaking if you want to do well. As said lower res won't help you, so I'd drop it if I were you (mb one point). Iron golems are pretty useful, but can't kill by themselves. For a build like this you are best off making a hybrid in my opinion, with 20 in golem mastery and 1 in iron golem. This will give you a very durable iron golem for a pretty low points cost. You can try to make a bone hybrid with this I suppose, although a skelly one would probably work better (but not really fit the theme). Have fun!

Hmm on second thought CE is very FMAish. Messing with the chemicals in the corpse of your enemy, and BOOM! Also a full trang set would give you some cool fire spells a la the Flame Alchemist. Basically I'd just play this as a trang's fishymancer with iron golem (20 sm, 20 rs, 20 ce, 20 gm, 1 ig, one point curses). That's a lot of points but it sounds fun to me.

Hmm, your first sentence gave me another impression before... did you edit it? :)

Anyway, I didn't comment on the build, as I figured that you were most likely trying to copy some concept in the show, no matter how much you had to sacrifice in survivability ^_^

In any case, Iron Golem will most likely not be able to cut it as killing-machine outside Normal difficulty. In order to save a few skillpoints, putting 10 pts in Teeth, for synergy, instead of Bone Wall and Bone Prison, which requires prereqs.

I'll let someone else comment on the rest.

Skeletons are totally against the theme...

Well I'm at level 29 and I decided to go with CE, Golem Mastery, Iron Golem, a little bpear, and more revives.

Go for it!!

I like seeing people trying new and unusual builds, even if they are untested and may not be feasible. I also like the use of the iron golem. Don't see much of anyone using any golem but clay...maybe for good reason, but iron golems can be a damn good golem if "raised" properly :-)

Let us know how it goes if you end up doing it
