What sorc should I build???

I have never played a sorc befor and am wondering what the best pvm build is (for max dmg so I could solo hell if possable).

For a while i thought it was cold then fire but ive been seeing a lot of lightning sorc guides claiming 30k-50k max dmg so now im totaly confused :( .

Is it just a matter of preferance? Are lightning sorcs easy-er to build/use? Or is there an element that is truely strongest?

2 element sorcs if you are not rich and that you want to complete the game instead of killing boss X over and over again. Light sorc if you are rich enough to afford infinity. Blizz is the way to go for Meph, it seems.

With sorcs you generally have two options:

1. Single element builds - very strong but in Hell these builds have trouble with immunes. So in order to enjoy them, you need to find areas with few or no immunes to your element. Another option is Infinity runeword for merc which gives him Conviction and can break some immunities (mostly light immunities, thats why light sorc is probably strongest sorc build).

2. Dual element build - you use two elements (usually one of them is cold) but then you lose some damage to your main spell attack. You can usually handle any situation in game, but not as fast as single element builds.

Since you're new to sorcs I'd recommend either Meteorb or Blizzard sorc. Lightning sorcs are for more advanced user but are really awsome and great to play, if you have good gear. If your gear is more like starter kit, don't even bother with lightning tree, you won't do enough damage endgame.
