View Full Version : 1 Stupid question+ 1 unstupid question
I know this must be obvious, but if I go to lut gholein and come back to rogue encampent, will I still be able to make an item imbued by charsi? Just in case, I don't want to lose this opportunity. By the way, what item do you think i should imbue? (all-around meleemancer) I was thinking of an ancient armor, mine has a good defense but nothing else (around 380 + attacker takes damage of 1 LOL), but I can't find one normal, everyday, non-low quality ancient armor since weeks. (I'm on nightmare)

You keep your quest until you use it =)
Items that make good imbues are elite gloves and boots; you can find better stuff (armor, wands, etc.) from monster loot.
Wait until you're very high level (say, 90) then imbue 3 white Diadems. You might get something beautiful.
One thing that I've been curious about regarding the first imbue (three, one per level of difficulty) is simply what happens when you imbue your 'starter' weapon, that 1 gold coin wand for skeletons?
I think I'll give it a try out of morbid curiousity.

Imbues are based completely on character level, so that will determine the outcome. The only exception are Circlets and their variants. They get an ilvl bonus when you imbue them.

You canīt imbue magic equipment, only white stuff. The wand you get for 1 gold is blue, means it is magic and canīt be imbued.
I agree on the diadems. I like to imbue those at level 90.
You mean if I don't use the imbue on normal, nor nightmare, I will still be able to use them in hell?

You have one imbue per difficulty level, but nothing gets lost when you unlock the next difficulty level --- you can always "go back" and use the imbue.

Exactly. And since the mods that you imbue are based on your char level, saving them until you are at higher level is the way to go.

Your starting weapon is just a 'Wand', it's not magically enhanced.

Ooops, you are right. Well guess you can imbue it then, but you get better imbues on diadems, gloves and boots anyway. :p
Then darn, I wasted my normal imbue :( ... it seems centuries ago now. I guess I'll just wait for the basic item of my dreams and then I'll go back. I am bored with night act I anyway.

Imbue eth crystal swords and eth dimensional blades with a high level character. If they turn out with teh uber stats, you can up them to eth phase blades (which are indestructable by default).
Also,
I agree on the diadems. I like to imbue those at level 90.
Imbueing a diadem at level 90 may sound like a good idea, but Diadems can roll all stats no matter what level they are (a special property of the item). That is why I rolled a +2 nec rare diadem with a level 8. Your better off just taking a new mule to do the quest when you have a diadem instead of wasting an imbue quest of a high level.

Seems like Iīm still an imbue noob. Will try imbuing some circlets with mules.

It has to be a diadem. Regular circlets do not have this attribute.

I think I have two of these. Are there any other items, that can roll all stats at low level?

None that I know of.
Ok, now WHAT's the big deal about ethereal stuff???? What happens when the durability goes to 0? You can't use it anymore or what?

Pretty much...
Ethereal stuff is nice for mercs because it gives a good boost on item stats, and mercs don't have to worry about durability.

Yes the item is lost once it reaches 0 durability, also you cannot recharge charges once you use them because the item cannot be repaired. On mercs items dont loose durability so eth are good for mercs, you can allways use a nice eth unique untill it reaches 1 durability and then pass it to your merc. Sometimes and eth item spawns with the mod "Repairs durability" or "Replenish quantity" in which case it can usually be used indefinetely.
Edit: some uniques and runewords have the mod "Indestructible" and that s why the eth versions are much more valuable.
As said for the Imbue quest it is better to wait untill you are high lvl to use your 3 oportunities with a char. You will not loose the quest for going to next difficulty, it is the same with Larzuk s quest you can wait untill you find your end game gear to add sockets to elite items.

The guy who posted about the eth crystal sword and dimensional blade is refering to that phase blades are indestructable. So, use your imbue on an eth crystal sword, and if it is very nice, upp it twice to get etheral phase blade. You can do similar with a dimensional blade. The reason for that, of course, is that normal phase blade cannot spawn etheral.
I know it's stupid but I don't use mercs... I just don't bother, I get along well without them. My golem and skellimages are enough.

...but how far in the game are you?
You may be very sorry you don't have a merc with a powerful aura to beef up your summons later in hell.
