Ok, first off I have posted topics in some of the char specific threads to no real good avail so I will try here... please hear me out.

My ultimate goals in Diablo are:

1) Get a good enough char to help out lower ppls with rushes of all difficulties

2) Use that char with different or the same gear for MF.

3) That char should have really good survivability/killing in even HELL.

I've researched alot and I currently have a 65 IK barb w/o the IK Soul Cage which is pretty useless until I get some more gear for him. I've looked into the new threads and I am thinking either a blizz/meteorb sorc or a skelliemancer. I never tried a necromancer before and I wonder about the probablity of using that for my stated goals above? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

A Sorceress is probably the best, especially if you can't afford Enigma on your other characters at the moment.

In my opinion, the best starting characters are Meteorbs, Blizzsorcs, and Skelliemancers.

Sorceresses have lower staying power, whereas Skelliemancers have greater staying power. Sorceresses go through the game much quicker.

In other words, both suit your needs in #2, Sorceress suits #1 better, and Necromancers suit #3 better.

You can also continue your IK Barbarian... full IK + 3 P.Topazes and 1x Nagel Ring gives you ~150% MF, and you could dual-wield Ali Baba's on the back. High survivability.

Yea basically what I was thinking before I heard about the necros. So basically you're saying just go with the sorc, blizz or meteorb? I hear blizz is more damage now but then you'd be **** outta luck with the CI in hell....

Thoughts?

EDIT: Oh yea and what's the difference between NL and L in terms of items and whether or not it's worth doing L.

Better have a meteorb sorc. Single element sorc will have severe problems when they are on their own respectively if they are meant to help others.

A few very good runewords, unique items and cube recipes can only be found or made on ladder. That means on non-ladder there is only the stuff from previous ladder seasons.

Non-ladder is only worth it if you already have lots of NL stuff and you can't let loose of it. The current ladder season isn't that old yet, so I suggest you start on ladder

well thanks too all, after about a week of deliberations then, it looks like I'll be starting a meteorb tomorrow on ladder-East.

Thanks again, see you all this weekend.

Well,
I made my character, got to level 63 I believe this weekend, maxed out FO, Meteor. I also found a vipermagi on my first NM Meph run so that was nice. My question now is, I seem to be getting very high up there in level and my spells are really powerful but I keep runnning out of mana before I can kill all the monsters. I haveta quaff like 800 pots a day.

So, I basically am in need of some gear I guess. I'm using a Vipermagi, and a manald heal ring, with magefists. Other than that I have just things I have found that don't relate to sorceress abilties. With that ladder being incredibly hard to find good stuff IMO where would you suggest I find some gear that will help in skill and mana?

With you being on the ladder, it is incredibly EASY to get gear, at least the cheapest ones anyways. Insight polearm, spirit sword, etc. The runes can come off nm countress easily. (the most overpowered caster runeword given the easiness of the rune, IMO)
