I have returned to Dii recently and am playing a hardcore skellymancer. I have reached level 21 and am ready to face Duriel. Does the old Blood Golem/Iron Maiden combo work in normal?

I understand that the bug that used to make this a no brainer was fixed but I wonder if it still works in normal? If not what is the prescription for killing Dury early?

Thanks for your replies.

I'm fairly sure it was fixed, you are best off waiting til 24 and decreping him to death, otherwise good luck he's a tough one ^_^

Dear Wolfedude,

I've found that Duriel could still be quite easily demolished by a properly-summoned horde of skeletal minions. Fighters work the best. Cast Gumby close by and recast if he's clobbered, stick a cold-enchanted weapon on your merc, be it natural or a sapphire-socketed one and have at it.

Even without, I'm certain that a nearly-maximized skeleton summoning and a little amp will turn that bug-bottomed blighter into bloody bits.

You can just make an army, bash Duriel, TP out, make new army, bash him some more... piece of cake, since he can't hurt you unless you wait until all your skellies are dead.

21 is pretty late already, you should be doing cowruns... of course, I often did the cowruns before completing act 2, since higher levels don't exactly make it more difficult :-)

You don't even need the skeleton army. IM and Gumby together will do the job eventually. Just make sure you recast him quick when he falls, or else Duriel will come for you instead.

I've also used the same technique to wear him down. Gumby + IM.
