If i want to make a crafted item, how do i find out the item level of the magical item ingredient i plan on using to make my crafted item?

whats say i wanted to make a caster ammy, but to get the 4 additional mods, the ammy has to be ilvl70 or more. how do i know which ammys are ilvl 70 or more?

Find an ammy from the pits in hell. The monsters there are ilvl 85 so the ammy should be higher then ilvl70.

Without the use of a third party program, you can't.

You have to pretty much do what A C E suggested, or gamble with a level character.

Act 1 Tamoe Highland. Go out from Outer Cloister WP and follow the path.

It's the alvl (area level) that determins what ilvl an item is for normal monsters. Bosses, campions, etc will drop things of a higher ilvl.

He also forgot to mention that it is in Hell that the pits are arealevel = 85. Nightmare and Normal aren't high enough. Check out the Misc strategies in the strategy compendium for a guide to the pits. It will explain them pretty well.

As far as ilvls go just look at the mlvl and that determines the ilvl. Though anything above 99 is dropped to 99.
