Hi there.

If you use the cube to upgrade a rare basic item into the exceptional version, do all the mods from the original rare stay in place, just the item type changes?

And further to that, is it possible to then use the rare exceptional -> rare elite item recipe to again upgrade the same item?

yes and yes.

Do note that the required level will rise. The game will look at all the mods on your item, the item's new base type, and any jewels/gems/runes socketed inside the item, take the highest required level and then add 5 (for an item upgraded from normal to exceptional), 7 (for an exceptional to elite), or 12 (for an item item upgraded twice).

Do you play counterstrike also? Did you play on Chicago 24/7 Xtreme? Dust2?
