Should racists be banned from these forums?

According to the rules, racists posts are prohibited. And according to Freet (our friendly resident mod):

"If I felt that a person was making blatant racist remarks he would be gone as quick as I could push the button."

So by his own words, he would ban anyone for making racists post.

Well, one such member has been making racist posts and following forum rules, I notified Freet about it rather than starting a flame war. I sent him this comment by steve-kow:


"It looks like the government is throwing money at the situation so nobody appears *****rdly--if you lost your '84 Buick in the flooding I wouldn't be surprised if you get a new Caddy from uncle Sam."

I felt it was a not so clever play on words. In effect a racist comment.

His response was that one could take it that way, but I couldn't prove he meant it as a racist comment. Fair enough.

So I clicked on steve-kow's posts, and on the front page of his list was this:


"I don't know about George Bush, but I've just about had my fill." In response to the post titled, "George Bush hates black people."

Freet's reply was this:


Can you be sure that that black people was what he was referring to when he made that statement? Could he have meant George Bush threads? Could he have meant threads about racism?

He went on to say this:

I though he was really stretching it there. But I moved on to page two of Steve's comments and found this:


"Black people are crazy, that's why. Look at the way they acted after the hurricane--stealing anything that wasn't bolted down (not just food items), raping, destroying, killing et.c. The common response from the white-apologist is that its just a bad coincidence that EVERYTIME we see people acting this way in America they're black. I don't quite buy that. Blacks are clearly less civilized than whites. I don't know whether their condition is caused by a deficient culture or biology, and quite frankly its besides the point.

This is why I get aggravated when I hear blackies talking about slave reperations--white people ought to get reparations from blacks for all the harm they have done. (blacks cause a great deal of crime, have ruined many of our nicest towns, and run amok whenever the opportunity arises [see New Orleans])."

If the comments you quoted are in context then yes, those are in fact racist remarks and won't be tolerated on these boards.

So I reminded him that he already said he would ban anyone making blatantly racist remakes. To which he replied that he would send him a PM warning him. How's that for integrity?

Few things in life bother me. But *******s making racist comments on a board visited primarily by children happens to be one of the few things that does.

The rest of it is mild, though some of it does stretch the boundaries a bit, to be sure. I can't pass judgement as I am not a mod.

Edit: I happen to take offense at your use of an obscenity in your last post. At one point, until the forum reset, that word was filtered. Still, I don't know that you should be banned for it.

Re: Steve_Kow-he has made worse racist remarks in the past-he even suggested blacks should be sent back to Africa-Sometimes, I imagine he is actually an African American himself-he does this to get fake sympathy & to further tarnish racists by pretending to be one.

I'm well aware of the word's meaning. As I said, he was using it as a play on words in the given context.

Why do you care? If it is Steve's opinion then I don't see a problem with him sharing it. If you are so offended by what he says challenge it, but I don't see the need to ban him just because he thinks blacks in general are a certain way.


Edit: If it offends you as much as it seems to, just put him on your ignore list or something.

I tried that. And strictly speaking, the rules state that I have to accept a mod's decision as final, which I did. I accepted his decision when he said he would ban him if he made blatantly racist remarks. Once he said he was going back on that, I informed him that I would be posting this as it effects evryone in the forums. If he wants to ban me for that, then good for him.

a) It's against the rules.
b) Racists are amoung the most vile pieces of **** ever to pollute the Earth.
c) Many children visit this forum and they shouldn't be expose to it.

I'll add that it's rather disturbing that you would defend a racist. Even if you don't share their views, it doen't make you much better than them.

I just saw the third option in your poll.You cant openly attack mods like that & rest assured Freet doesnt like Steve_Kow-though I cant say for sure if he doesn't flirt with some females privately :uhhuh: .Anyhow-The decision to ban a person or not is upto the mod, you cant have a say in that-Just have him on ignore.

Good point. Eveyone knows college students have so much money. I waited tables in a college town and was undertipped by students regardless of race. Parents were the only ones who ever tipped properly. Later I valeted at a nice restaurant in atlanta through grad school. And it was not uncommon for a black guy in a nice car to throw you a $20 or $100 tip. It happened repeatedly every night.

I get stiffed more often by black people than white people. This is a FACT. This is not a case of misremembered instances. Thus, I believe that black people are worse for tips than white people. This makes me a racist. I don't think this makes me the most vile piece of **** on earth. You are using the word too liberally. Those who kill others based on race, ok, fine, you will find more supporters. But those who just have prejudices based on race just have prejudices based on race.
