Well, my Mets didnt make it. So I dont really care. However, It would be different seeing a playoffs without the yankees.
Slightly off topic - Why is it that baseball only takes 8 teams to the playoffs? I think they should take 16 in order to add another round to the playoffs.
Well considering that baseball only has 30 teams i thinkt taking 16 is a little much. Plus adding another round to playoffs means adding on another week-2 weeks to the baseball season, which might turn some people off.

There are only 13 teams over .500. One division is quite possibley going to be won by a sup .500 team.
Of the 17 teams under .500, only 5 are within 3 games of breaking even and the Mets (4 games under) are the only team that are close.
Sox
Sox
Angels
Indians
Braves
Cards (what a bold prediction)
Padres
Astros
I'm goin with:
Sox
Sox
A's
Indians
I think the A's are just too strong of a secondhalf team to not win the race.
I see the Red Sox taking this A's/Sox series 2 out of 3, and both teams having a very strong finish to the season.
I also think the Indians/Yankees race will be a good one, but I'm looking foreward to the Yanks/R. Sox series to end the season, and I think the Sox will take it. In addition to sealing the East pennant, that will let the Indians claim the Wild Card. Thats my AL thoughts...
NL, dont follow it quite as closely, but I agree with you there.

It's the Yankees. As much as I hate to say it, they get their **** together come the end of the year. They'll beat out the Indians.
And God am I bitter about it.

To me, thats what makes hockey so great. You need 16 playoff wins to raise the cup, and thats in an 82 game season. Baseball is 162 games I believe. Only 3 rounds of playoffs seems a little short to me.

The Cards (making the obviously correct assumption that they'll be in first) will still play the wild card team correct, even though the West winner will have a worse record right?
Cards>Astros
Braves>Padres
Cards>Braves
Cards>RSox
RSox>Indians
Indians>W Sox
RSox>Angels
Unfortunately, the Astros are incapable of consistantly beating the Cardinals. Add the fact that they have recently suffered an abnormal spate of injuries to key players and the Rocket lost his mother, and I don't hold out much hope for them to get past the first round. :(

i think there is actually a rule that says division teams cannot meet in the first round
IIRC, last year, the yankees won division and had number 1 seed so they should have played the wildcard red sox in round one -- but they didnt
so, if the stros make it as the WC, the cardinals should play the winner if the west (since they should have the lesser winning pct)
if the WC winds up being the marlins or nationals, the cards would play that team regardless of the west champions record
feel free to flog me if i am mistaken

Ya, I think that's right.
Doesn't really change my vote though, Cards and Braves in the NLCS

Red Sox
Indians
A's
Yankees
White Sox are going to choke away the Central division again. Only 3.5 ahead of the Indians with 6 games against them left? No chance.
Friggin' Twins.
Friggin' Twins.
At least we can agree on this. :)
When Santana is your entire team and you support him, and all your pitchers, with about 2 runs a game, I think you're destined to lose.
I love you Twins, but you dropped the ball on this year REAL bad.

Why do we need another round of playoffs in baseball? Teams have 162 games to earn a playoff spot. Allowing over half the teams into the playoffs seems like it would trivialize too much of the regular season. The best things in baseball are the World Series, the pennant races, and the wild card race. Doubling the number of teams in the playoffs suddenly make pennant races not so important, and the addition of many more wilidcard spots kinda kills the fun of a wild card race.
