Is Voice of Reason a good endgame weapon for a frost zealot? It lacks crushing blow but has that sweet -24% to cold res. It is also affordable and comes with a decent ed bonus for most things. While I am at it, what is the best price is no object weapon?

Voice of reason is really a craaaaappy weapon. You'd do better with a phase blade full of cold rainbow facets, not that that would be very good either.

Wasn't that helpful?
Look, the utlimate Frsot Zealer weapon IMHO would be Doom, running conviction for yourself. I'm guessing you already have the guy built, plus Doom is out of most players price range.
The VoR is probably pretty nice for a frost zealot, you'll still needs lots of crushing blow, though. The dmg to deomns/undead is misleading. It's not that great because it's treated as off-weapon damage. I'm not going to get into it here, but this is less effective than plain old ed% by an order of magnitude.
It's still a cool weapon. I'm making one myself for my convictadin. It's cheap, too, which is nice. I would recommend a Phase Blade for speed and Dracs for lifetap so you don't die from lack of leech. I would also get Guillame's Face and some Gores.
Some other frosty weap recommendations:
Heaven's Light with 2 Facets (Slow and expensive, but LOTS of hit-power)
Gris Caddy With Facets
Djinn Slayer with a couple of Facets in it (Dmg variety (fire/ice) and speed)
seeing a theme here? Get something with sockets and put some facets in it!
There's my $.02 hope it helps...
Good luck. Oh, btw I have a convictadin and love to play with other elemental pallys. Look me up if you're on USEAST Ladder. My account is in the sig...

Wmeredith is right on the button.
I have a Frost Zealot at clvl 92. I also think that the ultimate Frost Zealot weapons are Doom and Heaven's Light w/ Cold Facets (ethereal has more physical damage, but then you need a Zod).
Voice of Reason is definitely an end-game weapon for a Frosty. I also like Nord's, especially for the huge AR boost and Cold damage.
For a merc weapon infinity is probably the best choice (although fairly expensive), on an ACT-2 merc:
Infinity (Ber + Mal + Ber + Ist)
50% Chance To Cast Level 20 Chain Lightning When You Kill An Enemy
Level 12 Conviction Aura When Equipped
+35% Faster Run/Walk
+255-325% Enhanced Damage (varies)
-(45-55)% To Enemy Lightning Resistance (varies)
40% Chance of Crushing Blow
Prevent Monster Heal
0.5-49.5 To Vitality (Based on Character Level)
30% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
Level 21 Cyclone Armor (30 Charges)

If you socket Heaven's light with a facet and shael you can hit the next break pt. using IK gloves and belt. I can't tell the difference in dmg between 2 facets and the facet/shael but you can definitely tell the difference in speed.
If price isn't a factor I think a Gris with 2x ber and 2x facet would be tough to beat. You'd have 90% cb with Guillame's and Gore's.
Along that line, has anyone tried full Gris on a FZ. 4x ber in the caddy and 8 facets would be pretty awesome. With Gore's you'd have 95% cb and that's a lot of facets, lol.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to try VoR as I am starting the new ladder and am still quite poor. He is pretty much built, I already have Holy Freeze maxed so it is too late to switch over to conviction, maybe later on in the ladder when I am richer I'll build another character around Doom. I looked for the convictadin build but did not see it, is it a variation of the avenger? I think it would be fun to play as a party player. You pretty much make eveyone better. Sadly I don't play on east, I play on west (sometimes asia).
My old ladder skelliemancer had Infinity on his merc, it rocks big time. Maybe later I can get it but it will take a while.
I am going to give the Grizz set a look, it should be cheap and maybe some inexpensive runes could help it out some. The expensive ones can come later :)
Thanks again, I am squeezing this into my break at work so it has to be short.

Why is Heaven's Light preferred over Astreon's Iron Ward??
Anyway, someone in US West was selling a 2/1 Heaven's Light for one Pul only. I think that's a cool deal for someone who wants to experiment with Heaven's Light. :)

They are equal in terms of attack speed and crushing blow, and similar in terms of damage. Heaven's Light, however, has one more available empty socket which you can put a Cold Facet or ED/IAS jewel into. This could make a big difference. Another reason is that Asteron's is 3 times more expensive.
And I wouldn't pay a thing for a 1 socket Heaven's Light. That makes it just like any other unique item which gets 1 socket from Larzuk, and loses its biggest advantage already. I'll easily pay another Pul for the extra socket, especially if the ED is better also.
