Ok, I used to play this game back in like 1.09 i came back..and i only really wanna play hardcore mode, its just more fun? :P lol I was wondering if theres any cool characters i should make.. right now i just have a necro for when me and a friend play..but he doesnt play much I want to make a guy I can play by myself with. (I refuse to join PUBLIC games since i dont wanna die from pkers.) so yea..what type should i make thats fun? like whats a fun type of druid or something? my friend said tankazons are fun, but i dont think i wanna do that right now :P and I might want a druid, just not sure which is the best for.. not dieing in hardcore mode

and, is there a difference between playing online or offline? because I'll mostly be playing alone so im not sure which is better..but i think ill just make it online just incase?

thank you if this made any sense..please help me? :D

Benefits to offline:
-No lag/desynch/etc
-If you waste too much time baal running the rest of b.net knows it

Benefits to online:
-Trading (dunno if playing solo entails no trading for you... I play mostly by myself but I still trade)
-ladder only runewords/uniques
-Should you ever want to play with others the option is always there... technically it is with sp/open as well, but that's not exactly the same -.-
-If you baal enough you get to be famous!!!1

Oh... I'll answer the other question too I suppose...
So far as I'm conserned there is no such thing as a safe and fun build, because in my opinion all the fun comes out of the risk, however here's a few safe and effective and extremely cheap builds:
-lightning trapsin
-summoning necro
-javazon
-hammerdin (arguably unsafe, but since there's not a considerable amount of things in the game immune to them you don't waste much time screwing around trying to deal with monsters you can't kill which imo is a big safety bonus)

It wouldnt let me edit my old post so...yea..

I made the druid, I looked at the skills, I think im going to make a.. Werebear with grizzybear pet... so.. I max out grizzy,lyanthorpy(spelling..),werebear..thats 64 points.. i unno what to spend the rest in..

edit: oh yea, what type of weapon should i use a bardiche..well those really strong type 2 handers or should i use 1 handed and a shield..well atleast for earlier on..like ill use a shield right now..but when i find a barchide i think im going to start using that :D

if you want to just be a casual player and have fun without wasting your life on it, SP is just as good as multiplayer.

But if you want to build that "perfect" character you want..you will need skillers + charms, good jewels, good runes, etc..this wont be possible on SP because there is no way you can get 10 +1 skiller with 50 life on it all by urself. Let's say the chance to roll a skiller with 50 life is 0.01%. When mutliplied by how many people are doing the same thing (0.01*100000, 100k just for the sake of this argument), it becomes a lot more chance of you getting what you want. Get me?

I would definately NOT recommend hardcore if you are somewhat new to the game..because I feel so sorry for people in hardcore that do not know what they are doing..they are stuck in nightmare act1 with their lvl 50 character..thinking this game is so hard...they are so happy when any kind of gray item drops..i just feel bad lol

if you are new, USEast softcore is a great place to start. Lots of users, lots of forumers from here which means more baal runs to lvl easier, more rushers, more chanters, more traders..and..more scammers/hackers.

If you want to play hardcore then go for it, its so much more fun aslong as you as a new hc player remember one simple rule(and no there are no exceptions, dont fool yourself to think that :P) YOU WILL DIE.
This is THE most important thing to remember when starting out. And also dont put all your energy in one charachter because sooner or later that char will be gone. I remember back in the beginning of classic when I started out and each time one of my say 10-15 first chars died I was devasted since I had devoted myself so much to each of them. So try to keep a more humorous approach to the game that will make you keep your sanity.

Further more, you will basically go through four stages as I see it. First you will risk dying in normal diff, then only nightmare will pose a problem, later only hell and the last stage is when you never die unless there is something like a major lag at a critical point, perhaps chatting stupidly in a hard fight since you think yourself immortal etc.
Like I sadi in the beginning of this post prepare yourself for the message "your deems of valor..." because you will see it alot when starting out. But each death will teatch you something new and in the end you will become so much more happy when one of your chars actually manage to survive and become hard as rock.

Just wanted to add to my last post that my description was meant for a PvM player that starts out from scratch and actually plays through the game. Don't mean to step on anyones toes but to just get rushed and do nothing but endless baal runs like "I bo u tele" games doesnt require to much skill at all and is about as fun and rewarding as watching paint dry. :P But that is of course just my humble opinion. ;)
