i made what i feel turned out to be a pretty interesting and fun avenger. i have screenshot documentation of my avenger here:

the first 4 might turn out to be the most educational.
anyway, i went with gris helm and armor. shield i went with the obvious hoz. weapon, i built famine. i figured, that since vengenace dealt cold-lightning-fire damage (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/skills/paladin-combat.shtml#vengeance) with each hit, then famine just seems like the obvious avengers weapon. i also liked the fact that its not botd, and even at about 150-200 base dmg less, im still quite happy with famine. griswold equipment also does not seem to be too popular with anything other than mercs, so i wanted to do something end game with some of those pieces too.
anyway, on top of those equipment choices, the gris helm and armor have 5 open sockets. i really think this is where my avenger shines. i went with 1 40/15, 1 5/5 cold, and 3 medium (whatever stats i could get for what i was able to pay) facets, a cold, a fire, and a lightning. a little extra boost into each of the attack bonuses that both vengence and famine use. haha, and when i die... watch out!! LMAO

however, at 92, i still have not quite completed. i spent the better part of my leveling experience running with a friend foher, so he had max conviction on all the time. in my opinion, with the nature of the attack of vengence, conviction is just the way to go. but, i do still have 12 skill points to use, and when i get this guy back out to play again, ill likely put them all into conviction. with my current equipment, i have lvl 11 conviction, 12 more would put me at lvl 23, which is almost near the point where its totally useless to put more into it anyway.
