I finished my test of smite damage. So:
1. Real average damage from smite with 10 combats in my test = 849
2. Real average damage from smite wtih 10 offensive in my test = 847

It is for grief +488, and 46% damage reduce of opponent.

So, my big compassion for any smiters, who give crazy cost for combat skillers with life.

Do you realize that the Holyshield from 10 Combat setup could not be overridden by the holyshield from 10 Offensive skillers? Also, you can just shout something like: "Doombringer does 10x more damage than grief!! It's bugged to do 30 times the damage on LCS!!!", but it won't prove anything. I also don't get it how the hell you found a +488 grief. That's impossible.

Want to see damage comparison based on maths and mathematic evidence? EDIT: I'd like to see a typical smiter build, including level, stats, gear, charms. I think that a comparison between the effectiveness of the two would be more extensive that way.

I hope I didn't sound too offensive, and in case I sounded that way, Peace.

I have to agree with Masas, that wasn't much of a test, to tell you the truth... For a pure smiter, it's obvious there's not going to be a big difference between using ten offensive and ten combat charms if you're using Grief, since you get 17% ed for each offensive skiller, and 15% ed and +3-4 shield base damage for each combat one (besides a defense bonus)

What you don't take into account, though, is that combat charms are almost always better than offensives if your character has some sort of backup skill (Charge, FoH come to mind), and their high price is due to hammerdins benefitting from them too. Offensive charms are a decent replacement for combat ones only if you have Grief, and only if you can't afford combat ones, but nothing else I'm afraid

My test results is true. Offer repeat my test for any, who not believe me.
I'm not pure smiter. I'm smiter + secret ;)
My test was very important for me. I have good offensive charms +35-40 life, but i was distressed, that combats better my offensives... Now, after this test, i will use my offensives with peacefulness.
Difference in defence between 10 combat and 10 offensive - 3.5K (23.5K with offensive and 27K with combats). Imho - this is not critical difference.
Defence important only vs ww-barbs. And i think, that 3.5K defence difference in duel with barb - not critical. Crazy difference bitween cost of combats and cost of offensives - is more important, that difference in defence.

Let's assume a setup for a Vindicator (Smiter). Here would be the base stats:

375/40 Grief BA
Upped HoZ "Um"
15ED Archon Fortitude
CoA "BerBer"
Perf Strength Dracs
Perf Verdungo's
Upped Gores
Mara's
Perf dex Ravenfrost
BKWB
Perfect Pala torch
Perfect Anni
Spirit + 6BO CtA on switch

Level: 90
Statpoint distribution: +460 available
Strength: 94 Base (174 with items)
Dexterity: 64 Base (129 with items)
Vitality: 372 Base (477 with items)
Energy: 15 Base (20 with items)
Life: 1334 Base (2816 with items and BO)
Defense: 3080 (27874 with fully synergised HS)

Smite damage:
Min: 530*(1+1.74+3+4.95+5.60)=530*16.29=8633
Max: 533*16.29=8682

8633 - 8682 (8657 avg)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
9 Combats would net you:

Level: 90
Statpoint distribution: +460 available
Strength: 94 Base (174 with items)
Dexterity: 63 Base (128 with items)
Vitality: 373 Base (478 with items)
Energy: 15 Base (20 with items)
Life: 1349 Base (2842 with items and BO)
Defense: 3080 (32032 with fully synergised HS)

Smite damage:
Min: 566*(1+1.74+3+6.30+5.60)=566*17.64=9984
Max: 569*17.64=10037

9984-10037 (10010 avg)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
While 9 offensives would get you:

Level: 90
Statpoint distribution: +460 available
Strength: 94 Base (174 with items)
Dexterity: 64 Base (129 with items)
Vitality: 372 Base (477 with items)
Energy: 15 Base (20 with items)
Life: 1334 Base (2816 with items and BO)
Defense: 3080 (27874 with fully synergised HS)

Smite damage:
Min: 530*(1+1.74+3+4.95+7.13)=530*17.82=9444
Max: 533*17.82=9498

9444 - 9498 (9471 avg)
------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the way, the setup I used would probably blow at PvP, but I had to use something.

What about combat vs offensive for a hammerdin? Which would give more damage?

Combat would give more damage since it raises the level of your main skill, Blessed Hammer. Offensive GCs would raise hammer damage indirectly by raising the level of your Concentration. I don't know how much of a difference in damage there are though.

My test show that this formula is wrong.
