I made a Dusk Shroud Stone a while back that had around 1650 defense, but it was for a druid pvp build, so if I were to make another I would definately use an armor with atleast like 550-600 defense, but if it's all you have, then I'd use the balrog. It's amazing in an eth sacred for mercs, but most any stone would be better than Corpsemourn.

Your 7x barb dueler uses Stone?
Just a note.
The new 1.11 cube socket bug can give you crazy def on eth armors.
you can achieve a 1.3k base def armor and almost 5k def armor with stone

My level 49 druid on Europe a while ago used Stone. I haven't had a baba in a while.

Care to explain how to achieve that? o.O

By 'cubing' they of course mean using the cube to add sockets. Not always gonna get 4 sockets, but worth the risk.
with only one exception being exile imo how many eth elite pala shields can you actually find and with good resist? i saw a 1.8k def exile somewhere thats perfect for uber tristram

kthanks i'll wait for an eth armor to do that socket thing :D
Yeah cubing eth armors is insane. Some hours ago on hcladder I turned a 889 def eth sacred into a 4 sock monster with 1333...
Have been thinking abit if it would be a waste to make stone out of it? I mean if I calculate correctly the max possible in the game to achieve is 1350 so perhaps an armor of this magnitude is worth saving a few months in the unlikely event of becoming rich enough to make a fortitude... Now that merc armor would be totally off the wall :P

1) Make the godly 'Stone'.
2) Find runes for 'Fortitude'.
3) Hel the 'Stone'.
4) Make the godly 'Fortitude'.
Valar: are you 100% sure that it is possible to hel a runeword?? I alwaysed had the impression that only items like "gemmed flail" or sockted rare/unique could be unsockted. Man, if I can unsock then what the heck am I waiting for! :D!
edit: Nevermind to answer, I will test this myself on my edge runeword shortbow I use for gambling. A hel is worth losing to see first hand if this works or not.
edit2: OH MY GOD, I just made a stone out of my 1333 def armor... I got 284% def for a total of... Hold your hats folks...
5118!!!!!!!
My mf trapsins merc is currenently using a 3ptopaz griswald armor but well... I think I will turn my Durga into a little fortress instead. :D
But this armor would really shine on another charachter, shout maxed barb... enough said

Valar was right... how do you think people reroll runewords like 'Oath' and 'Insight' over and over?
Keep in mind that the armor is still ethereal. Sure an insane defense Barb might not get hit much, but he'll still get hit, especially if he is somewhat lower level than the monsters trying to hit him (chance to hit is based on AR, defense, and level difference). You may have some fun with this armor on a Barb, but eventually it'll lose durability and you'll have to move the armor to a Merc.

Yeah I know now, sorry for doubting valar :P. Like I typed ealier I tried it out on my edge bow before making the runeword just to be certain.
What I meant with that it would be suitable for a barb with shout was simply that the barb would transfer his shout to the merc but yes it would function for some time on the char itself too. Another class that could function well with this armor would be an exile paladin I quess but well... getting the runes on ladder is far from easy... but a defiance boosted merc would be almost as good as a shout one.
Here's a link for a picture of the armor by the way, thought it was so cool so it deserved to be displayed :D

oh... my... god.
'Gratz. That should make for an invincible merk.

Thanks, only problem with the armor is that its strenght req is really high. One item I think its a must is andariels visage in combo with it. Just have to find one first though, preferably an ethereal one with max defence of course (so easy to do) ;) hehe with that kind of setup I dont think it would matter much that the merc would lack damage reduced items.
Something i have been thinking abit about is the value of this armor?? I mean I have never seen its like before. My first guess would be that a high rune such as Lo would not be out of the question, or am I stretching it? Not that I will trade it away any time soon... :P
