Tweaking my conc barb for uber-Tristram

Hi everyone, yesterday I did my very first uber-Tristram with my conc barb on NL and got my first torch. Diablo and Baal fell quite quickly, Mephisto was a different deal however and I need a little bit of help to tweak my build better suited for killing the ubers.

My current skills, stats and gear @ lvl 90:

Strength: about 195 with gear
Dexterity: ~210 with gear, enough for max block
Vitality: The rest, ~340 with gear

Helm: Arreat's Face (nothing socketed yet)
Armor: Arkaine's Valor +2 180ed "Um" (perfect base defense as well :D i just had to tell everyone and I love the armor)
Weapon: Oath eth Balrog Blade (gives prevent monster heal), WC spears on switch
Shield: Stormshield "Um"
Belt: Verdungos 15/3x
Boots: Gore Rider
Amulet: Highlord's
Rings: Raven + a rare mana leech ring with ar, stats and resists
Gloves: Dracul's

Charms: 5x Masteries GC and the rest filled (not the whole inventory) with charms with life, ar, max dmg or the combination of these.

Merc: Might merc with eth Arioc's Needle, Stone and Crown of Thieves. This shouldn't be that big of a concern because he'll die against the ubers anyway.


So, as I already told I really didn't have any problems with Diablo and Baal but Mephisto, with his conviction, was a real pain in the ***. How could I change that? Life tap doesn't trigger often enough so I could completely rely on it against him. I guess a Chains of Honor could help a lot, but I'm kind of keen on the Arky (if I do make on, I guess I'll make it in a Balrog Skin).

don't see anything wrong with your gear, crushing blow is needed for uber. Maybe a duress over the valor for more cb and ow... only need a shael um thul i think, or another armor that gives good cb. If meph's aura really gettin to you... maybe try stacking your resists more, socket the arreats with an um. The weap could be better but i won't comment on it as I don't know how rich you are.

I would exchange the arreats and gores for the orphan helm and goblin toe. This would give you 60% crushing blow instead of 15%. Most will agree that Crushing blow is the most important thing when it comes to killing the ubers.

Also try switching to a 4 Ort armor and T-gods for Meph.

I dont find that 5% chance of lifetap helps much. Usually I just rely on a pallies 15%chance to cast it. If you happen to know a trustworthy smiter or zealer just strap on laying of hands instead of dracs. And Orphans helm beats any other helm vs the ubers. Without cb i dont do enough dmg to kill them off before they regenerate it all or I run out of mana pots. I'd also go goblin toes vs them like the other guy said. Also, I dont really think arkaines is a great uber killing armor personally. Coh, Fort, or Duress (only if more Cb is needed). Coh would probably be my top choice with your setup. Last thing would be...wand of lifetap to solve your lifetapping problems =). You can get like a lvl 5 tap from one of these with around 90 charges.

if u want to go UBER u need CB...yours is just 15%.
15% cb means theres some time gap between 2 CB so it will give time for uber bosses to heal and summon more.

so i think BK charge(35cb) with a shael or KINSLAYER is must for any ANTI UBER barb. DEATH is also a nice choice but it has no ias....so its pretty useless unless its in eth Phase blade.

also upped DURIAL(resist+life+armor+cbz) with an ort can be a good armor.. +2 skills dosent help much and the +x to vitality dosent add up in BATTLE ORDER.

Dmg isn't a problem for me as my weapon has prevent monster heal, but I think I'll go find some goblin toes and invest in a ber rune to get myself a CoH. I can always howl Daiblo's and Baal's summons away so they aren't a problem and usually they won't even hit me because of my defense.

How much is the difference between the dmg of a decent BotD Colossus Bladwe and an Oath Balrog Blade ~300ed?
