Countess chest bug

Whenever i kill the countess in hell, no matter hwat i do, the chest that is supposed to open doesnt open :mad: . I have done 18 runs and the chest has never opened once.

It didn't even open when i did it for the quest. It NEVER opened, lol.

Well all you get out of it is junk to be honest, at that point in the game a couple of hundred gold really isn't anything you should be worrying about.

Hmm i recalled a bug(s) that opened countess' chest in two different incidents.
1) I joined a trade game where a bunch of people were in it, and i got bored and did some key runs ( i was trying to brag that i knew the countess-tower pattern and i was able to find my way fast ). I didnt party anybody and i already have done the countess quest a long time. I killed the countess and the chest opened 0_0.

2) I already had countess quest before but missed the chest open after i completed the quest awhile back. I quitted that game because there was some lightning immune monsters and i was amp-damaged.. in other words i was dying. Then later awhile, I helped a friend do some torch quick xfer (hell diff). He partied me when i entered the game. He dropped the hf charm then left to get his other char. It took awhile and I was bored, so i went to get some keys. Killed countess and the chest opened. Weird..

its because the person who made the game didnt kill countess for quest yet

Just to add to this [very old] thread - this bug is still evident in single player hell mode v1.12 - rather disappointing from Blizzard to be honest. Maybe they should concentrate on actual bug fixng than making a game that is extraordinarily difficult to find items even harder? I'm sure if I EMailed Blizzard they'd tell me tough luck.

Sure, their might be bugger all in that chest, but that doesn't excuse an obviously well known bug, that's been around for a good number of years from being fixed, does it? Neverwinter Nights was also very much like this, but at least Diablo 2 is mostly bug free.

I'm sorry, but one in 40 million odds of finding a Zod rune is just absolutely ridiculously stupid. No sane person would ever call that reasonable. That's just an example of the many problems I see with this game. I still prefer the original Diablo - Diablo 2 was a half botched attempt to cash in on the Diablo 2 craze back in the late 90s imho, and wasn't done very well.

There, I've had my whinge.

PS won't be buying Diablo 3 or StarCraft 2 due to Blizzard's dodgy business agendas. As a company they're despicable.
