Looked around, couldn't really find a up-to-date guide or equipment choices. I am a hardcore player, so Player vs Monster is what I do. Can someone tell me from cheap to mediocre to rich for equipment? Would appreciate it, :)

I am very unsure of ideal pure PvM gear for any character, but I started Diablo and Diablo 2 playing single player only before graduating to battle.net, and I imagine that some PvP aspects can be incorporated into PvM (although I suck at PvP too  )

For my barb, I put in 1 point in Berserk because it is definitely useful, both PvP and PvM and I can also afford dumping one point in the skill. I imagine for a true Berserk barbarian with some/all synergies would do tremendous damage since my lvl 1 Berserk is already very strong in 8 player games.

I imagine that the godliest PvP gear would also make good PvM gear.

For equipment I guess choices could be these, but I don't know if they're the best or the right for the job:

From poor//medium//rich:

Helm: Rockstopper//Vampiregaze//Arreats, CoA or Delirium for fun
Weapon: 'Honor' runeword//decent or strong uniques or rares/magics such as E/CCB/Q (Ethereal/Cruel Colossus Blades/of Quickness) the Grandfather, Doombringer, etc.//best or expensive choices are probably 'BotD' ethereal weapons and 'Grief' weapons and other runewords like 'Doom' 'Beast' and 'Death'
Armor: Rockfleece, Crow Caw, Twitchthroe//Shaftstop, 'Duress' runeword, 'Stone' runeword//'Enigma' runeword, 'Fortitude' runeword
Jewelry: This is limited because I believe Berserk does not leech naturally, and Angelic's is useless because Berserk should give plenty of attack rating. Probably try resists and stat increasing jewelry.
Gloves: Bloodfist//Immortal King's gauntlets, Lava Gout, Laying of Hands//Dracul's Grasp, Steelrends
Boots: Tearhaunch, Goblin Toe//Gore Riders, Sandstorm Trek's, Waterwalks//Imp Shank type boots with Faster Hit Recovery, +stats, and massive resist. I would take these boots even without +Faster Run/Walk, but the duped versions have all those mods.
Shield: Whitstan's Guard//Moser's Blessed Circle//Stormshield, 'Phoenix' runeword, 'Sanctuary' Runeword, 'Dragon' runeword. A lot of nice runewords exist for shields, but the uniques/sets mentioned give a lot more % block.

Charms: Anything will do. Try to get resist and life. When you are super duper rich you will want the Annihilus small charm, Hellfire Torch large charm, and probably 3/20/20 small charm's (Fine Small Charm of Vita; +3 maximum damage, +20 attack rating, +20 life)

That might not be uptodate but I think thats still pretty good, although it doesn't include any runewords. I plan to make a zerker myself...the link in the thread guide is wrong as that one is an rpgforum.net one :)

If you've already read this guide, apologies :)

Edit: About the jewellery above, true that may be but angelic rings can give a lot of AR which is still needed even if you have a lot anyway :) You never know!

http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=126634 this guide is meant for untwinked, which I am not, and the gear he suggests seems pretty cheap or mediocre, not sure.

eA-Zaku - I plan on playing two-handed, so no swords for me.

Just want to know what I should be looking for in equipment. Resistance, damage reduction? Thanks for the replies.

[url]Just want to know what I should be looking for in equipment. Resistance, damage reduction? Thanks for the replies.

Modfiers we are looking for on our equipment are in order of priority: Resistances, Damage Reduction (percentile), Damage (on our weapon), Attack Rating (AR), % Damage goes to mana, Increased Attack Speed (IAS), Fast Hit Recovery (FHR). And with low priortiy: + skills, Cannot be frozen (nice, but not necessary).

I'm sure that applies even if you are twinked :)

KT

Edit: The last part of the guide says for twinked gear.

Weapon: Elite Steeldriver (Shael) <- Someone also said Ribcracker is real good.
Helm: Rockstopper (Res All Jewel / PRuby)
Armour: Shaftstop (Res All Jewel / PRuby)
Belt: Verdungo's Hearty Coil
Gloves: Laying of Hands
Boots: War Travellers
Ammy: Angelic Wings
Rings: 2 x Angelic Halo

For a hardcore (mode) berserker the only good high end choice for shield would be stormshield. You need that 35% DR.

Why Berserk though? With couple LL stuff you can live just fine in hell if you WW or Frenzy... isn't it much safer that way?

Because magic damage rules my pants.

And being "safe" is boring. No?

Correct. :)

I would use some type of zerker, from ebotdz to honor. Zerkers just own.
And, a stormshield.

From there, you can decide your other gear.

Grief PB, Phoenix Shield, Fortitude armor . . . +550% damage (if it's the worst Phoenix out there . . . like mine - sob!) and very, very fast swing speed. Of course you could also do an ethereal BOTD Maul or Polearm.
