View Full Version : Socketing the 6-Sock
I just found a 6-Sock Lance and Martel de Fer....what gems should I socket both with? I was thinking all PEmeralds, but that might be overkill.
What kind of build are you gonna use it on?
well since you are going for pvm as well, you probably would want at least 2 different elements in the lance. I would advise against emeralds because poison damage is kinda slow and it gets reset every time you hit the enemy again. I would go for definitely saphires and maybe rubies.
I would include 1 emerald to prevent monster healing in hell, 1 sapphire for the chilling effect and a skull if you don't have any other leech. The rest I'd mix rubies and topaz for the varied elemental attack (they have about the same avg damage each right?)
Maybe you could even pass on the sapphire since the chill lasts like 1 second in hell and its damage is lower than ruby and topaz.
What about the Martel de Fer?
well which item are you gonna use?

A bit out of topic, is that true for expnasion and other skills aswell? How about poison javelins?
yes. Every time when you have a mod for something like "6 poison damage over 3 seconds," the time will be reset ever time you hit that enemy before the time is up.

Not in pvm. Less dmg, dex requirements, low dura, less hits per ww.
Then again you shouldnt be using a 6 pgem socketed weapon anyway.

completely true, if u wanna make a 6 socket gem weapon, go make a 6 socket pike with norm gems to use at lvl 12, for twinking a lancer,
a 6 socket pike with
1 norm sap
1 norm skull
2 norm topaz
2 norm ruby
would be best IMO
chill, little leech for bash/conc, and then mixed light/fire dam

go 6 pois, hit and run, and let the pois do the rest...
6 sock lance isn't really for anything more than fudging around, not a strong weapon

I have 3, 6 socket Excu. Swords. 1 with all Pemarlds, 1 with all Prubies, 1 with all Ptopaz. None of them are any good PvP. The regular damage is just too low. PvM, the only 1 I could use with some success was poison. +600 poison, was only good for immune to physical in hell. It worked, but it took about 12 WW to kill anything. lol. I keep them now as a collection, nothing more. Now if a rare could get 6 sockets....... OMG!!

Indeed, the only thing 6 sock weapons are good for now-a-days is getting rid of your supply of gold. Having to fix your 6*25k stone lance after every CS and twice per cow level can get old very soon.
I socketed my 6 sock martel a long time ago with 4PS, 1Psaph and one PE.
Even in 1.09 I needed lots of leech on my first barbie. Str build. I remember thinking "More Str == More damage. If I just do more damage and kill the monsters before they can hit me, I won't need to invest in life !"

6 socket weapons? Ive made a fun build that uses a 6 socket... it owns nm, and if i rele wanted to i could sludge him through hell... but it took me 10 seconds to kill a single monster in hell river of flame =/
Any how he was a conviction zealer that used a 15ed 6X ptopaz eceptional version of millitary pickl... for 5 fpa zeal, 300ish zeal dmg(physical dmg), 95% cth due to convict + ar, and 1-240 light dmg per hit
