View Full Version : Blood golem Q?
well they r actualy 2...
***i dont really use blood golem, but i do use it a lot when im stuck between clay and can't quite reach iron... but i have noticed or wandered abou this stuff***
a) when my Blood Golem dies... well im never reduced to 1 HP.... might be b/c i might have drank a red pot b4... but never actualy have had it happen to me that my life go thump after that sorry excuse of a golem dies...
b) whats the outcome of Blood golem + life tap??? would it heal more, less, the same?
Think of him as a percentage of your own health. If all that health disappears it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be at 1 HP.
Lifetap should work but since you can only cast one curse at a time and his damage is pathetic I don't think it will be worth it. The damage he steals won't be able to counter the pummeling you'll likely receive for not using faster kill curse like Amp damage and draining abilities don't work on a lot of the undead.
Most experienced players prefer the clay golem over all because you only need 1 point in mastery and CG for him to be an effective tank with a slow effect that engages whenever he hits or gets hit. IGs have some interesting potential but if they get killed, fall too far behind, or disappear between games (which supposedly happens sometimes) you lose the item you made them with so it's not worth using anything except for junk or easily found stuff unless you're absurdly rich. Furthermore no matter what you do, the IG will never have as much life as a clay golem and you can't reposition him at will. I think of the IG as a neat trick with specific uses but not as a regular strategy.
The fire golem bites. It's terrible. It gouges you on mana and doesn't do any damage worth speaking of in Hell. The blood golem might be interesting if it at least had more life, but it's pretty lousy beyond early to mid normal difficulty. Check out the Golem FAQ for details. At 1/1 points invested, the CG is the king of all golems IMO. It really galls me that they did nothing to make the higher level golems more interesting in the patch but the CG is still a very effective tool.

The fire golem has a good use, though: whenever I see a necro using him, I immediately know that the guy doesn't really have a clue :-) Blood golem has a similar use, although I see *far* fewer of these.
