I recently switched from dial up to high speed wireless. I never had any trouble with the dial up, but the first few times on the wireless I would get connection interrupted after about 6 minutes of play. Then I'd get the error on the character page that I need to configure my firewall etc. After about an hour I'd be able to log back in, but would get CI shortly after. Now I can't log in at all for a couple days; it just stays at the 'connecting to fastest server' message and never connects. Any ideas what's going on? The wireless is a fairly stable signal.

You need to open up some ports in your firewall. Search a bit at blizzard.com and you should find out which ports need to be opened. Also are you using a router? If so, you will need to make your router allow diablo 2 via router settings.

Wouldn't both of those issues result in me having not gotten on to Bnet at all, instead of CI and THEN the bit about opening the right ports?

As far as I know, no ports need to be opened if you are only playing on the closed realms. Atleast on Blizzard's site they only have info about opening ports when hosting a TCP/IP or open battle.net game. I've never had a wireless LAN connection so I cant help you with that. I still prefer cables... :uhhuh:
