You can decide from that.

If you are talking about direct absorb, I would take the 26% Fire resistance because Direct Absorb only heals that much damage.

Absorb % is just like Fire resistance if you have 0% Fire resist.

The absorb would be coming from Hellmouth gloves.

Say you have 49 fire resist.

You'd go with gloves that add the +26 fire resist (bringing fire risists to 75) over having the 49 fire resist and +15 fire absorb?

I would take the 26% Resists.

1000 Raw Damage * (1-.75) Fire Resists = 250 Net Damage
1000 Raw Damage * (1-.49) Fire Resists - 15 Fire Nullify = 495 - 15 Fire Heal = 480 Net Damage

Absolute absorb works great versus continuous damage (firewall, meteor fire) or a big number of small fire attacks (hydra, Diablo's fire snakes), even if it's a seemingly small number. Continuous damage is dealt once per frame and absorb works on a per-frame base, too. That means, with 15 fire absorb you can effectively ignore 750 continuous damage per second (because you get healed by the absorbed amount).

As long as I can't afford the Tal Rasha set for my sorc, she wears the Rising Sun amulet which has 0.75/L fire absorb together with perhaps 50% fore resist . Neither the Councils' hydras nor the spells from the Bloodlords in hell Durance 3 can harm her - in fact, most of these attacks heal her.

Absolute absorb now has a cap to it versus frame based attacks such as firewall. mostly 1/25 or 2/25. = not so great versus continuous damage.

That's MDR, not Absorb.

Tne fire snakes look like burning oil he pours on the ground. They consist of many tiny fires and they will all run through a character in melee range, meaning instant death if your resists are bad or instant healing if you have the right amount of resists and non-percentual fire absorb.

Could you explain a bit about this cap? Thank you.

Magic Damage Reduction Modification vs. Frame-Based Attacks (http://users.tkk.fi/~tgustafs/mdrmod.html)
From Tommi's website.

It's not a cap, but a reduction in effectiveness.
