I've decided that I'm probably going to build a CS zon, mainly for the boss killing. I have a couple questions, if anybody can answer any of them, that'd be great, thanks.
1) How much dmg can these bad girls dish out, assuming a lvl 80-85 that has a Valkyre and LF?
2) Are they good for rushing?
3) Doesn't really matter, but how do they do in duels?

My lvl 88 lightning zon is designed more for survivability and MF than raw killing power, but her CS delivers 8 bolts of 3-1465 dmg each. That's 24-11720 per strike.
If you really went nuts and made a fully synergized character, with as much +skills gear as you could manage, an inventory full of charms and so on you could pull off something on the order of 12 bolts at 7-7767 dmg per bolt, for a whopping 84-93204 per strike.
Given that Hell Meph has 75% lightning resist and 94320 life, it would take you about 6 hits, probably under 3 seconds, to take him down.
You can do even better with gear that adds lightning dmg or lowers enemy resists, but I can't be bothered to calculate that.
As for rushing, they aren't BAD, but you can run into problems. The maggot lair is particularly tough, since there are a lot of lightning immunes there (the scarabs) that you can't simply run past, and while jab will do the trick, it takes a while to bring them down.
One thing worth considering is having a wand with lower resist chages on switch. It can break many monsters' lightning immunity, and really helps with taking down bosses faster.
Check out Jek's Lightning Ama guide here (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=127612). There are a lot of tips and info in there.
