I heard that there is no DR cap on reducing returned damage from iron maiden (I never tried it, however) and I don't know what happens with respect to thorns.

I thought the cap for PvP was 50% and the cap for PvM was 75%.

There is really only one general and global damage reduction function (dealing with all the various things such as resistance, absorbtion and such) so it all apply equal to every type of attack. The return damage from IM, Thorns and such, is in fact just a full attack set up by the game, that is passed through the normal damage reduction function. Hence the normal caps and such applies. So even for them, the ammout reduced by "Damage reduction" is 50% as well maximum.

As you allready pointed out, the cap is equal regardless if one fight monsters or players and have always been so. The actual ammount have varied though, and was at one point 75% and before that 95%. Currently it is 50%.
