I'm playing a lvl ~32 PvM blizzard sorc at the moment. I think there is something weird with blizzard, and I've heard something about a 'First blizzard hit'. The thing I notice is that it takes a short duration (how long?) before a shard hits the ground. Still I am experiencing to kill the very moment I cast blizzard, often against a name-locked monster I think.

I really mean exactly that moment, I'm not just slow and stupid. Its probably within a ~1 frame range from the moment in the mid-animation where the spell is casted.

The final proof that made me post was against some of those animated dead that keeps waking back up after they are dead. I was in a casting animation, while he was charging. About the time blizzard should start, he shattered. That means he was killed by cold damage, right. And after this, I got the 'hit recovery status', and my blizzard was cancelled. It looked like I had casted the spell, and the next or the same frame, I got hit and he shattered.

Additional info:
-Normal nighlatack questing. lvl 1 in the temple.
-merc (defience) had an Iceblink armour, but was not close at all.
-I had no attacker takes damage of any sort
-All the remaining five undead were standing right next to him, but were untouched
-The casting sound appeard, but no visual sign nor any sound that made it seem the blizzard actually appeared
-blizzard now does mostly one hit KO
-I think I was able to cast a blizzard emmidietly after hit recovery. No casting delay appeared in other words.
-Blizzard rocks all other spells :D

What happened?!?!?!?
Hoping for a few replies, and no rude comments. I am ~112,37% sure what saw.

IIRC the casting delay on Blizzard is 1.2 seconds to from cast to effect, and of course 4 seconds of duration. Sometimes the blizzard hits a monster with a shard rite off the bat, sometimes it takes a little bit, maybe thats wut u were seeing, and lag caused it not to show?

usually monsters that charge will hit you automatically. therefore, you may not even see the animation or hear the sound and be hit. imho, that is the bug that caused you to disconnect.

the first hit with blizzard is, imho, a completely different problem. any target in the blizzard must move to be hit, which is why sometimes oblivion knights, dark lords and vampires will appear to be invulnerable to blizzard when they are otherwise vulnerable to cold.

I am a single player. there was no lag. My casting was interupted by a hit, but the enemy died. Still, no blizzard was ever casted, and no one else died nearby.

yes that happens quite often, usually when your attack is so powerful compared to the monster you are attacking, they will die without the attack appearing to come out. that no other monster died sounds like lag/desynch, which is also a lot more common in .11 than previous versions.

A few times, when I was hit during the casting of a frozen orb I saw a strange thing... The casting animation was interrupted, but the monsters were chilled/died just normally except...there was no orb, no bolts, no visible spell efects other than those monsters... Maybe it worked the same way... It could happen that the "invisible blizzard" just missed all the monsters...

imho, it's not invisible. just your comp desynched with battle.net, so to them, you weren't interrupted, but on your comp, you were.
