I haven't made a non expansion character yet but before I do I want to know what is the fastest way of leveling in classic since it dosn't have the baal runs.
I also would like to know what you get in a hellforge since you don't have runes in classic. In the expansion you get better runes in hell mode than in nightmare or normal so hells forge gets you better stuff so do you get better stuff in non expansion or not.

I think the fastest way of leveling is Cow Level. The funniest also.
Hell Forge gives you mainly gems, I fear...
CS runs are the most popular. I would do those first because Cow levels are a pain if you can't find a maker.
For new chars, Tristram runs up to about level 14, sewers/arcane runs to about level 20, travincal runs to about level 25 and then cow runs up to about 40. I may be a bit off on some of these numbers since I don't level this way (it's no fun), but this should be about the fastest way to get off and running. Once you get to the high 70's your only real choice is Hell Chaos Sanctuary. Yawn.
If you're playing w/o any major help from anybody else, (items/rushes) then questing is a good way to gain xp and find some decent items. I started my first classic character on monday, he's already 47 w/some actually pretty good items that i've found mainly on my own, or traded for. I did alot of cow runs between 35-45 but the rest of the levels i've gained just from finding a good group of people and questing thru the game.

Do you actually cow to 40 on normal cows or hell cows and when should I enter nightmare/hell.
Do normal cows until you think you can handle nightmare then quest through nightmare and do nm cs runs until you can handle hell.
Here's the fastest way I level:
1-5: Run around Blood Moor and Cold Plains killing stuff
5-12: Trist runs
12-15: Catacombs
15-20: Arcane Sanctuary
20-30: Normal Cows/Normal CS runs
30-50: NM Cows
50+: Hell CS

I find Nightmare Cow games are hit and miss. A common senario is for a goup of 25-35ish charactors to create a portal, race through, and discover that they can't kill the cows. One of them panics and heads back to the portal (dragging a swarming herd with him), and creates an instant death trap for anyone else entering.
Because they attract so many players, I like to join Cow games and head off into the wilderness for Solo Leveling - I've gained 2 levels while a group of folks sit in Tristram either arguing over "Who makes?" or just laughing at the suckers who step through the portal and die before the their screen can redraw....

There are constant cow runs that are easy to find but I can't seem to find cs runs. Cow runs are usually named cow-07 or cowww007 ect so what do they name cs runs. Is it CS-007 or act4-007 or Diablo-007

CS runs in Normal and Nightmare are rare. Usually, CS runs will simply be named "RCS1" or "JCS2". The first letter normally signifies the maker, and whether they're good CS runs or not.

Dont forget the place called Flayer Jungle. At hell difficulty it is good for exp until level 80-82. At normal it's good after tomb runs if you cannot find cow/cs games.
