What are Low Quality, Cracked, Crude, Damaged items?
All of these items have a lower Maximum Durability than normal, except bows which are still indestructible. Weapons of this type have lower damage than their normal counterparts. Armor of this type has unusually low Defense, often going below the minimum Defense for that piece of armor.
Superior Armor and Weapons
Superior items have improved Defense, and/or Durability. Superior Weapons can have increased chance to hit or damage, and Durability. The Arreat Summit (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/basics.shtml) doesn't explain much about these modifiers. Could someone provide a bit more details concerning these modifiers (i.e. how much less/more defense, how much less/more durability an item gets, for each modifier) ?
Thanks a lot :) !

AFAIK superior Armours can get up to 15% Enhanced Defense and superior Weapons can get up to 15% Enhanced Damage.
Not sure on how much def/dmg is reduced to lower quality items, but i know that they can get less sockets than the normal or sup (same as normal) versions.

Inferior items never come with sockets, and when upgrading them in the Horadic Cube, they get an ilvl of 1 meaning they can't get more than 3 sockets.

Not all ilvl 1 items get 3 sockets. Some get less even if there would be enough place for 3 and some are getting up to 5. See here (http://www.diabloii.net/items/sockets-list.shtml) for a complete list. That's 1.09 information but with the exception of circlets and the like, it's still accurate IIRC.

Ancient Shields are listed twice. the entry that doesn't include 4 sockets is correct

Oops - thanks for the correction! I had read somewhere that 3 sockets was max for ilvl 1-25. That'll teach me to always be more careful with my sources.

I just wanted to brag a little with my Latin. It gives me an aura of wisdom and as there is nothing to be said after it, I also have the final word :)
