Playing d2x useast, winxp home, sp2.

Apparently at random, not too often, my keyboard will suddenly... start having different keys.
I'll press / and get -, or press - and get nothing at all, but ) has turned into -. It's weird...
Most of the letters seem to stay the same. If I exit d2x and restart, it gets fixed.

Any suggestions?

I have the same problem ! I'm on an AZERTY keyboard, sometimes it goes to something QWERTY like, but not quite. And after half an hour, it's back to normal ! Also when I quit, it goes back to the correct version.

How odd. My keyboard is QWERTY.

maybe they're somehow trading.

What programs are you running in the background ? I usualy have Winamp 5 running, along with Symantec AntiVirus, SecondCopy, MSN Messenger 7, the usual.

Is your Num Lock light off? That might have something to do with it, probably depending on your computer model (and how old it is). Sometimes Num Lock will be off when I don't know about it, and suddenly the letters get screwed up. What pops up on the screen is the button before the one I pressed (ie I press R, nothing; T, I get an R; U, I get an R; etc).

No, NumLock is always on.

I have a somewhat similar problem, but I know what's going on in my case...I have multiple language keyboards on my computer, and alt+shift set as the key combo for switching languages/layouts. It's not all that often that I'll accidentally press alt+shift while playing, but it does change the positions of a lot of keys--mostly punctuation, if we're talking another QWERTY-based European language, a complete re-arrangement of the letters if we're talking a switch from QWERTY to Dvorak layout, or all the letters going *poof* if we're talking a switch to a Russian or Arabic keyboard.

If you're using Windows, you'll likely have a little blue box that says "EN" most of the time on your start bar (if you have multiple languages installed), or an icon of a keyboard (if you have multiple keyboard layouts). You can check for certain under control panel->regional and language options->language tab->details button, and change shortcuts for switching languages/layouts under the "key settings" button there.

Note that keyboard settings are done on a per program basis--so you can be Googling something in English, for example, while writing a paper in Russian for a university class without too much hassle, so your keyboard will always "go back to normal" when you tab out or quit DII.

For all you MacPeople (tm), I'm afraid you'll have to figure out how keyboard switching works on a Mac yourselves, as I have no clue.

Sooooo... The logical solution would be to delete all other "installed" keyboard languages. For WinXP: go to Configuration --> Country Settings --> Languages --> Details/properties --> delete all other keyboard configurations except the one your using. For me that would be "Belgian (Dutch)", for 99% of the people here, it would be "English (US)".

I'm gonna try it out tonight, I hope it works ! Thanks for the tip dude !

Yep, alt + shift fixes it nicely, I'm far too lazy to go deleting things when I can just hit a couple keys, so that's it sorted for me :D

OMG!!!!

That has been my personal PAIN for the last year....and more. My keyboard swiches between 3-4 differents setups while playing LOD, all the ! % & / ( ) = ?¿;,:._- were changing of key at their own. I had to memorize all the different combos. Ive asked so many people about this, all they said it was about the keyboard language swiching, but noone ever explained how to fix it as you did.

Thank you very much.
