View Full Version : Teleporting around in "god mode"?

Hi,
was just thinking if its true that nothing can hit you when you have over 105% fcr? Dont have the equipment right now to try it, but maybe someone else has.
Hitting 63% fcr really made a difference for me, but I still get hit when teleporting to throne/meph etc.
And another thing: suppose I have 105% fcr, will my merc still have the time to kill dolls... and thus killing me? (im hc... so this is kind of important :D)

if you suck at teleporting and/or have a crap connection your merc can have alot of time to kill dolls. 105 fcr is pretty much the base fcr bp for majority of sorcs. the rest reach the 200 bp.

If you have a good connection (so you don't lag when teleporting), the 105fcr bp is excellent since most monsters won't be able to react to your teleporting (but I still keep a finger on "full rejuv button" incase I get swarmed :D).
I personally don't use merc for meph runs because he can pop dolls easily in 1pl game and it's really nasty, like 2 dolls pop and your dead. If you must use a merc, remove his weapon in durance 2 and re-equip in durance 3.

I also play HC, and was doing fine with hell meph WITH 63% WITH a merc WITH a 452 max damage weapon....until I died....with Tal's Set....on ladder.
Keep in mind that I had 1.3 k life, max all resistances, and around 6.5 k defense. Although I did get careless, this was NOT a death due to lag, but to teleporting into a boss pack of extra fast/extra strong Maulers and being stunned RIGHT before I could teleport out.
I can say with certainty that 63% is MANDATORY, but you also need to have your fingers on full rejuvs, your pinky on Escape Key (to save and exit), and a **** load of defense/life/resistances if you want safe teleporting.
I'm currently rebuilding my sorc, and am going to sit at 105% faster casting.
Here's a very cheap way to get 105% (you can re-equip on entering lvl 3)
-Spectral Shard (50%), Energy, Resists (get a dex boost though)
-Stealth - 25%
-Lidless - 20%, Spirit 25-35%
-Magefist - 20% (trang-uls even better - 30%)
This should get you to 105 on close to it, and the rest can be filled with the odd 10% faster cast ring.
Also, use a holy freezee or defiance merc. With 63% cast he SOMETIMES killed a doll, but that did not do much hurting to me. With 105% he probably will not even kill one.
The reason you want to use a merc is three fold -
1) INSIGHT for potionless teleporting
2) Defiance / Holy Freeze means greater defense if u accidentaly teleport into a boss pack (don't underestimate defense, 5k and thats already a decent semi-blocking with no dex AND MORE IMPORTANTLY NO BLOCKING FRAMES WASTED)
3) Tanking Mephisto
If you're doing the moat trick and you find your merc is a retard and keeps exciting monsters, every time you see him move, tele to the exact spot you're standing on.
But yeah, I learned the hard way...get 105% fast cast....it's easy and worth it, ESPECIALLY in HC. Also, mercs own.

If you don't have the practice, no matter how much FCR you have will keep you alive. Ofcourse this significant increase in FCR makes it easier for you to teleport, since it will just be that tad bit faster, meaning faster escapes.
63% FCR is the base FCR that any Sorceress should have, all above is nice.
Concerning Merc killing dolls: When teleporting down to Meph, unequip the Mercs weapon if you have trouble. This way he cannot kill the dolls and you won't be in danger.
What also helps: Get Shiver Armor, through prebuff or investing points. Shiver Armor chills on attack and not on hit, giving you just the edge you need to escape those dolls.
For HC i would recommend to unequip the mercs weapon and reequip once you enter the lvl where Meph is.

103-5 will get you anywhere with near 100% safety. lag will still kill you no matter what your fcr is. if you have a lot of lag, upgrade your comp or isp or don't play hc.

you probably didn't have max block did you (i can tell cause you recommended lidless)?
if you had max block you would have survived the maulers. Nuff said.

What is this 103-105% FCR "nonsense"?
The breakpoint is 105% FCR *point*. Before that you don't reach another frame reduction. Or has something changed, that i am not aware off?
Ok, there are different breakpoints for Lightning and Chain Lightning, but thats about it.

Ok, thanks for all the advice.
Removing my merc weapon really helped. Gonna get wiz and spirit shield for teleporting... and thereby hitting the 105 breakpoint.

Are you recommending max block? If so, what shield do you think would be acceptabe to use, while retaining 105% fast cast, high blocking, acceptable resistances, and above all FASTER blocking?
But then, this isn't the place for a dex vs. no dex sorc debate.

Ever since making a 200 FCR sorc, all the other ones just seem a little too slow :(
Personally I think anything less than 105 is suicidal, but then again I usually make chars with pvp in mind.

105% FCR + Merc + max Block you shouldn't die anywhere on your way to Meph unless you're stupid enough to go into a champion boss mob of Gore Bellies stunning you.

u cant see where monsters are really without mh, so teleing into a pack is not avoidable all the time
(trang-uls even better - 30%)
actaully, trangs have 20 fcr
with 105 fcr (8 frame tele) i dont think any monster can hit you, exception fanat dolls and maulers
you merc shouldnt be able to kill dolls in that time, i think he can get one hit off, unless he is wearing like...eth bonehew right now in the ladder

u cant see where monsters are really without mh, so teleing into a pack is not avoidable all the timeIf you don't make long tele jumps, you can pretty much see where monsters are, and avoid them. I find about 3/4 screen jumps along the walls quite safe with both 63 and 105 fcr. It's almost impossible to get swarmed that way since one side of you is facing the wall. Plus monster packs never appear along the walls in big rooms, usually about 3 centimeters away (or so).

there are 2 different lists somewhere. there was a guy following me around last month saying it's 103. now i just list both.
generally, you have to be super fast with the mouse to keep from hitting walls while tp'ing. i always do full screen tp's if possible, because that way monsters can't get activated before i can tele away.
