Hi guys,

I need some ideas on how to giveaway Immortality's stuff. He was kind enough to let me give his gear away to all of you in this forum. It is sad he is quitting the game, but like you, I think he'll be back, and then he will be starting over, which is fun.

Please give me some ideas on how to give the stuff away. I want everyone here to get something. Random number guesses are OK. Trivia is not really good since you can Google just about anything.

So, help me come up with some way to do this.

Ideas, please.... :)

I cant think of anything.

On a related note, did i see you on d2 recently? Someone signed onto immoralitys account and i tried /w him to see who it was. Noone replied... (cold shoulder)

Create a passworded game at some specified time(s) and let people join and claim some items?

Also, what realm(s)? Softcore or hardcore? Ladder?

that's not really a contest then.. more of a giveaway. And it's only limited to 7 people because there is one game host who is giving away items.

I think the random number thing is good. If anyway read my giant sp giveaway in the sp forum, it turned out to be quite successful. :thumbsup:

That is a lot of work. I woul dhave to assign an item to each number and then have people choose a number and then arrange with them to get it. I don't have a problem getting online to give people items at set times, but assigning items sounds not very fun.

Any other ideas?

Maybe I will look at the SPF for other giveaway ideas.

There is the way I give my “new” non-ladder character items away when the ladders reset. I create a bunch of accounts (Classicforum1, Classicforum2, etc…..) and then I create 1 or 2 characters in that account (ertyuidfghj, ojnuhbyg, etc……) place the items I’m giving away on those accounts then whisper the account name and pass to who ever I decide to give it to randomly based on, thread number x / post number x, (3rd thread on the page, 8th post in the thread) that I just happen to pull out of the air.

If you need someone to help with the accounts and characters simply pick someone you “trust” on these forums. If they run away with the stuff perm ban them. If you need help I have 2 copies of the game and can assist. I just have very limited play times.

The only draw back to this method is the person that gets the account only has 10 days to retrieve the stuff.

I also have two sets of D2 CD's so I can mule with ease. I think what I'll do is make 5 mules and load them with a good item or two and another regular (blue or socketed item) and name them with the answers to 5 trivia questions I will come up with. The questions will be hard so someone can't just Google an answer.

The other items I will give away to helpful forumites as I see fit.

Now, the questions, hmmmm......

There's this game about bidding. you can set the gems as the currency(if you want you can set values like pskull being the highest, or ladder gems is equal to 1.5 of nonladder) . most people who bid will win the item.

Yeah, but I don't want people to "pay" for items. This is a giveaway. I don't want this to turn into a giv me itmz plz!

It's a bit difficult when you want to make sure everyone gets something.

Over in the SPF, Blascid's screenshot contest (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=379190&highlight=Blascid%27s) has been fun to watch. It was a nice surprise to see that everyone is a winner. Of course, you would have to arrange it a bit differently since it is not possible to email the itamz. You could still use the random number idea to generate who gets which stash.
