View Full Version : Act3 merc equip?

Hi

I am building a freazealot, I have an act3 fire merc. What types of weapons are good to give them for someone whos not rich? Do i give them a weapon and a sheild? Please help.

act3 mercs are very weak and not many people use them. That's because they really lack a lot damage and because they have really low strength which means they can't carry the better one handed weapons. So therefore, their weapon choice is very limited and would require some of the better weapons.

I would suggest an act2 defiance or might merc instead because they are a lot more powerful and you have much more choices for gear.

Just found this out the other day...

Act 2 defiance merc is in Normal labelled "defensive"

Act 2 Might Merc is in Normal labelled "offensive"

Act 2 Prayer Merc is in Normal labelled "combat"

slightly incorrect.

normal act2 defense = defiance
normal act2 offense = blessed aim
normal act2 combat = prayer
nightmare act2 defense = thorns
nightmare act2 offense = might
nightmare act2 combat = holy freeze
hell mercs are the same as normal ones except higher lvls.

Thanks mhl12! I have been playing for years and never knew about this, although mostly sp games so no to discuss info with. Just stumbled onto this forum a couple of months ago. It rocks, I am learning quite a lot!

Actually nighmare act2 defense = holy freeze, and act2 combat is thorns.

weird.. the AS seems to say the same. Did it change with the new patch or was it always like this?
