I was thinking of making one of these and have picked out what I'd like to do, but one major dilemma remains. I really want to utilize the thorns/amp dmg combo, but don't know the best way to do it. Yeah, I could use bramble, but that's expensive and I don't want to sink those kind of resources into this character. I was thinking of an act 2 thorns merc, but don't know how good his thorns are. If they suck, I think I'd be better off with a might merc and just use the rune word "edge" as my 2ndary weapon when I'm not summoning, but that's a hassle and would hurt my CE, and thus am reluctant to do that. Finally, I could just get an Act 1 merc and give her the "edge", but then I lose the insight meditation bonus I would use with an act 2 merc. Granted, if I was to use an iron golem on the insight I could still have that bonus, but I'm bad and keeping my merc alive and don't want to have to keep making insights to make golems. So, after all this babble, my one important question is how good are the thorns from the act 2 merc?

Not so good. At level 99 a Thorns Merc will only have a level 15 Thorns. Edge is equal to a level 99 Merc, while Bramble can get a higher level than a Merc could ever get.

Besides you'll loose out on the Might aura that a Skelliemancer really needs.

I think you can make an iron golem out of a crossbow. So make an "edge" crossbow and viola - iron golem with thorns. Alas i think so ;)

I had not considered this. If I was to do this, would I want to put points into iron golem? And if I put the points into iron golem, and I already had a golem summoned, would it gain the bonuses from those points?
