Poison LoM

Since new ladder starts within hours it is time to build a new nec. Lord of Mages is probably the only one that worked before, but is so-so now. So - I've been thinking about such hybrid:

Mastery - 20
Mage - 20
Clay - 1
Golem Mastery
Summon Resist - 1
Revive - 1
Warrior - 1
prereqs

Bone armor - 1
Corpse Explosion - 1
Poison Explosion - 20
Poison Nova - 20
prereqs

Lower Resist - 1
Prereqs

Merc - act 3 fire (I'm sure as hell not going to get runes for that Conv polearm) Spirit/Spirit/Viper/Lore

This - I believe - should work. The strategy would be:
LR -> Nova -> Allow skeles to work/USe trangs fire spells/use poison explosion/use corpse explosion

Waddya think - would this work? What would you change (different merc? maybe)? What gear?

in these times of the uber 3 u gotta think about first, urself. second, ur dmg.
get the highest res and def u can and lets be real, the uber 3 will vanish ur mages in a sec... u gotta find a physical source such as act 2 mercs (with a good polearm ofcourse) and at least 2 elements...
i think might merc, or holy freeze... hell i dunno... remember u dont have corpses in the uber 3 lvl so corpse exp and poi exp wont work there...

You seem to need more of a meat shield. The one point you give to Raise SkeletonI will help if you have good "to skills" in your equip.

Alternatively, get a Act 2 Prayer merc---the best defence to multiple minion builds.

Or, How about an Act 3 Lightening Mage---as there are many more fire immunes than lightening immunes in Hell (although this seems to be evening out over time).

Finally, my LoM "MagemanHal" gets a lot of success, with admittedly high "to skills", and with use of my seven skellies, a Prayer merc, a Fire Golem to selflessly provoke attack, and Poison Nova maxed. The Poison Novas are only supported by 1 Point each in Poison Dagger and Poison Explosion.

That Nova won't be doing a hell of a lot of damage. Your Mages will need a bit of extra protection. Playstyle can make up for a lot of defects, but I would advise you to at least get some form of crowd control in the form of Curses or BW.

Gear depends a bit on wealth. Obvious would be things like Infinity, Three Part Trang, D-web, Bramble etc. Get an AoKL for prebuffing.

Not everyone is interested in beating the Über Bosses. Not everyone made chars to specifically deal with DC. Some people enjoy the normal game.
