I know several posts have been created lately, with the release of the 1.11 patch and indication that a ladder reset is on its way in the future. I would like to bring together a collection of people to form a Diablo 2 Team. The name is completely up in the air, as would be the leadership. However, I would love to base the initial team on the idea of a "mesh" group; that is, a team that creates characters specifically in the interests of complimenting each other.

For examples, while a Hammerdin is always nice for dmg, an Avenger-type with Conviction can make the entire rest of the team that much more effective. Note: Although the 1.10 patch made specific builds that much more important/effective, I am by no means an elitist or expert - anyone is welcome.

I would like to build the team through responses to the following "form". Preferred characters would indicate the "builds" you most enjoy... if you have several please list them so we can work out a nice mix ahead of time.

I'm not a hardcore player; I play an hour or two a day tops, and only when I'm able. I would think recreational, interested gamers would be the best fit here. Please, no "leet" speak or immature attitudes; I want to put together a group that is easy-going and has fun, while also tackling the newest challenges D2 has to offer. Please note that a "need before greed" mentality will be in full effect; I think items should always go to the class that can best use it before it is considered to be trade-bait.

This is a US EAST server Team, as noted in the title, and will work best with people in or near the EST time zone. Once established, I'll set up the team with a forum system and a chat channel on Diablo 2.

Hello all! I have a question about this group. Will we be starting from scratch or playing existing characters? I ask this because I just got back into the game recently and lost my old accounts so I would be starting a semi-fresh character.

I would personally be up for something until ladder is reset, then start a new team after the reset. I have a feeling, however, that this refers to after the reset. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I wouldn't make any plans based on ladder reset. It might not happen any time soon.

I agree. They might be waiting for someone to hit 99 which would take forever! I am up for starting new characters that compliment each other and playing for fun when a few of us can get together. I dont like to rush or do constant baal runs either :)

I am in full agreement here. Instead of waiting for a ladder reset, I'm game for making some complementary characters now. I'll look into putting together a forum and such tonight, so we can take some of our posting off this general board and into somewhat more direct conversation.

It's good to have gotten some nice responses. I'll be around as early as this evening to start playing, and I don't mind starting anew - some of my favorite playing time comes in the first 20 levels :D . I'm not a big fan of rushing either (even though I despise act 3, it isn't nearly as bad when in a group), as I find doing the quests and building characters up to be a lot of fun.

This sounds great! I'm totally up for helping out using my singer! I made him just for fun however I haven't gotten many uses out of him. He's level 85 and I can add a boost to life, mana, and defense.

And I was actually thinking about starting a new werewolf druid as I came across a few uniques that I would love to try out on him. I'm looking forward to the other forum!

In order to properly configure a forum, it would really help to have a name for the group. I'll post a couple of my suggestions (off the top of my head), but feedback and alternate suggestions would be much appreciated:

Divine Horizon
Dark Revival
White Alliance
Phoenix Pact
Redemption
New Dawn

Previously posted ideas:
The Locksmiths
Dirty Salsa

I am a fan of either Divine Horizon or The Locksmiths (since the new patch introduced all these keys!)

Bob the Builder? I thought you were dead

got room for one more? what exactly is this thing all about?

Ok, we've got some good feedback on the Locksmiths thus far... one more vote for that and I'll consider it a done deal.

For more information, please see the initial post. This thread is simply for people who are looking to get together and form a new group of characters that work well as a team. A combination of melee & magic damage, support, and of course, fun! We hope to start playing together in the near future, and when a new ladder forms (if it does), start over there as well.

There are no restrictions, no minimum number of hours per week or previous experience. It's all about having fun, and forming a sense of "Team" in the group. We're still looking for a few more people to round out the group.

Great.. we have a nice mix of people thus far. I'm leaning towards Divine Horizon myself, although I certainly don't mind the Locksmiths. If we get any other votes, it will help make a final decision. I did some research and I have a free forum lined up for us once the name is decided. I look forward to setting us up and getting things rolling!

Well if you have some room for more players, I'd like to propose myself :) I've played mainly solo, ladder and I'm a semi-serious player (1 to 3 hours a day if I can). Played FPS for years, but I fall in DII and can't get out

There is absolutely still room in the group.

It was great speaking to a couple of the posters here in-game tonight. We had some great open-minded discussions about builds and everyone was heavily in favor of using group-friendly characters... the ones that make everyone else in the group more effective. At least from a mentality and interest factor, we're off to a great start!

I apologize if I did not respond to anyone, as I was online and on the phone for a while, only to return and find myself dicsonnected from Battle.net.

I've decided to wait and see what other name suggestion/votes come in between now and the morning, but I fully intend to configure some private forums for us to use early tomorrow. This way we can sort out the classes we will play, good times to play, etc., without posting to a public board. It will be cool :p.

With the newest posts, I think we have a solid starting number to form a team with (assuming everyone who posted follows through with this hehe). I'll be setting up a team forum in a short while, and due to the overall majority vote, the team name will be: The Locksmiths!

More information to follow within the next hour or two - stay tuned!

Ok, here it is, the location for the starting forum of The Locksmiths:

I look forward to everyone registering with the board and starting to post. If you have any problems making an account there, please feel free to PM me. My username on the new board is Talin and I'll be the starting administrator for the forum.

Hope to hear from you soon!

I think almost everyone who expressed initial interest has noe come over to our team boards (as indicated in the above post). If there was anyone else interested, feel free to stop by the site and take a look - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. To everyone else, good luck and good hunting!
