Hi
Is aldur's set good for any build of a druid? I've recently compiled the full set, but I don't really know as to what build would be nice. This would be my first druid that I am really ever making. None of the guides listed in this forum really seem to contain Aldur's set in them either, unless I'm mistaken.
Thanks for reading.
That's because there's precious few builds that would actually work with that set.
Try and do a search for them, as I know we've answered this question a couple other times. Simply searching for 'aldur set' or something similar should net you the results =)

Aldur's Watchtower is not really too great of a Unique Class Set, especially for Druids, and that is why none of the guides contain the items of the Set as 'suggested' equipment.
Since this is the first Druid you're making, people will suggest to make a better build (ShockMaul Bear, Fury Wolf, Windy, Flaming Rabies) that perhaps incorporates pieces of the Set, such as the boots, but not all.
People don't usually like this Set because:
1) Weapon Damage is too weak for a Shifter. It's not even an Elite class weapon. T_T
2) The entire set does not offer any Fast Cast, which is necessary for a Windy/Fire Druid, and that leaves you with very limited choice as to the remainder of your gear to hit the 99% breakpoint.
3) The Pelt sucks. It doesn't offer any + Skills. If it had +2 or even +1 Summoning, it would be so much nicer. =D
People usually just use the Boots (even for other classes), as it is probably the best item in the entire Set.
If you're lesbian with auras (like I am =D), then I'll encourage you to make it. I personally found it to be my most favourite Druid build to play with.
Any, to answer your question - yes, it is good for a Flaming Rabies build, or a pure Fire Shifter build, but the lack of Poison damage will make you suffer in Hell, especially since so many monsters are Immune to Fire. In general, the best build for Aldur's is Flaming Rabies.
Basically, you want to follow Kaz's guide, and replace the items in the guide with the necessary Aldur's Watchtower items. Here is my set-up if you're interested:
Skill Input:
Shape-Shifting Tree:
Max Rabies and Fire Claws, and one in each Pre-Req.
Elemental Tree:
Max Fissure and Volcano, put one point in Armageddon, and one in each Pre-Req.
Summoning Tree:
I personally put one in each Animal Summon (up to Grizzly), and a couple in Oak Sage.
At the moment, my Aldur Druid is at level 86, with Oak Sage, Werewolf at level 1, and my Volcano is around ~15 or so. I plan to max Volcano.
Gear:
Head – Aldur’s Stony Gaze *(2x Fire Facet)*
Amulet – +2 Druid Skills w/ Rez and Life
Armor – Aldur’s Deception *(Fire Facet)*
Main Weapon – Aldur’s Rhythm *(2x Shael, Rez/IAS Jewel)*
Main Shield – Stormshield *(Eld)*
Gloves – Trang-Oul’s Claws
Boots – Aldur’s Advance
Belt – Verdungo’s Hearty Cord
Ring#1 – Raven Frost
Ring#2 – Carrion Wind
I don't really have a switch-out Weapon/Shield to use, because the second you lose the weapon, you lose 50 Rez All, 15 points from each stat, +3 All Skills, and a couple more mods. =\ If you're rich, you could always CTA/Spirit for buff up.
Carrion Wind abuse adds to Rabies damage. Cold and Light Rez should be maxed with this gear or close to maxed, and Fire and Poison should be in the 30's. Just throw in some Charms and perhaps take out a few Facets and replace them with 'Um's and you'll hit 75 Rez all in Hell. You need WW at level 10 (according to Tor) with 2 Shaels and 15% IAS to hit 8 FPA with Fire Claws and 6 FPA with Rabies. Because Aldur's gives you +3 All and +1 Shape-Shifting, you need 5 Shape-Shifting GCs to hit slvl 10 WW, or 3 if you have +2 Druid Skills ammy. Aim for 42% or 86% FHR, or just leave it as it is, it's not like you're going to PvP with it. =P
If you do decide to PvP, go find some newbs and own them with the aurarific Druid. =)
With this build, I can get through Hell fine, it's just the rare Immune to Fire/Immune to Poison/Stone Skin that bother me.
Sorry if I put in too much information, I am just silly willy passionate over my Aldur's Druid. I <3 him.
Anyway, good luck!
Thanks for your help. That's exactly what I needed to know. Does the order in which I put my points into matter (like should I max something first before the other)?

I'd suggest you max fireclaws first since it does immediate damage so you won't have to wait for the monsters to kick the bucket. You will get carrion wind at level 60 so aim to have rabies maxed at that point.
