I want to know if there's a damage calculator somewhere so I can check my real damage with my Grief.

As far as I understand, just add the "Adds + XXX" dmg to both minimum and maximum.

I have no idea, but I seriously doubt that's accurate. If it were, then botd, beast and doom would all be more damaging than grief, when its known that's not the case.

Lets say the ebotd has a 1h damage of 180-520 damage. Put it on your barb, and he'll show something like 2200-4800 damage. So, if grief is a +380 damage, added to the base item damage (like 80?), then the low damage is like 460 (compare to botd at 180). I believe that the damage shown on grief when equipped is just the normal item damage +incr damage from ww and mastery. Just adding the +damage to these two numbers would probably be inaccurate, as the top damage would still be less than the lowest damage on botd. That can't be the case, as shown in their relative effectiveness.

But I'm just hypothesizing.

I've PM'ed to both of you a link to some calculators I found.
I'm not sure how accurate are they, but it seems ok.

It does what it says

eg. zerker base 24-71 damage

with grief that becomes 324-371 one hand damage

therefore the crappiest grief beats the best botd in pvp

24-71 damage on a Berserker Axe. With a 400% BotD that is 185-545 damage on a perfect 15% superior eth base. That comes to 365 average damage.

Taking a 24-71 normal Berserker Axe for a Grief:

24+340 = 364
71+340 = 411

This amounts to 387.5 (387 after rounding) average damage on the lowest possible Grief.

That is a sheer damage comparison, let's not forget that Grief has Deadly Strike which effectively doubles the damage a % of the time along with the Venom which adds a fair amount.

Thanks for the calculator.

I have another question, though. It's about leech in pvp. Is it nerfed, or do you not have it in pvp anymore? What about leech against act bosses(Meph, Diablo, Baal-I don't seem to leech off Meph even with doing so much damage)?

Leech still works against bosses, but not in PvP unless you use Lifetap.

When did they stop it?

Nearly two years ago, when 1.10 came out.

I was here a little after 1.10(then I quit, maybe a month and a half after) and I remember leeching in pvp.

Not to argue with ya buddy, but I dont think that's the case. Keep in mind if you're spinning into a druid's pack o'wolves and bears you'll leech, or some necro revives, but not bvb. The third possibility would be tap.

When will they make the "100% damage taken returned as health" mod? That' d be sweet!

Leeching has like a 1/100 penalty in pvp, forget it

With the 1.10 patch, leech was changed so it only drains back an amount derived from the damage you actually deal. Thus, leech took a hit by association. Assuming you were able to hit someone for 1000 damage, after the pvp penalty you'd do a total of 170; if you had 10% leech, you'd only gain back 17 life.

It is still fully effective against summons, since you don't suffer the 17% penalty against them. But otherwise, leech has been nerfed for the last two years, since the inception of the patch.
