do you folks notice that in .10, there's very little room for error in build designs? even a slight change can result in huge improvements or big disappointments.
the most glaring example would be sorc fcr. under 65% and over 65% (or 63%, depends which table you look at) and you have a sorc that is fragile and dies constantly or one that survives quite well. take it up to 105%, and they're practically invulnerable.
another example would be ignores target defense, or itd. many of us from .09 were rather spoiled because of a bug with the eth rune, that gave the max chance to hit on all monsters, players and bosses. in .10, suddenly we have to deal with ar. i don't know about you folks, but i've come close to abandoning a few builds in .10 until i tried a weaker weap with itd.
i've made quite a few single tree sorcs so far in the latest ladder, and i was surprised how effective ES is with just a few points distributed in es and tk. however, most of this is because of just one adjustment: insight weapons. at the moment, i'm running a zerker barb through with an insight on the merc, and he's doing great. once i get to hell, i plan on using prayer/insight, so i think leech may become a thing of the past.
my mf blizz sorc packed on the mf. every time i got an mf item, i would throw it on her. suddenly, she started dying left and right, and i could barely do 2 out of 3 runs successfully. i stripped her down (for the es sorcs i made) and then recently re-equipped her. as my zon has taken over the major mf duties, my sorc was only able to take a few mf items and instead used more sorc-friendly items, such as crafted caster belts, magefists, and nats boots. voila, suddenly she's a tank and fears nothing in durance.
so i was wondering if you folks had an experience like this, and which one item (not including enigmas, forts or any rw item using higher than vex) made the biggest positive difference for you.
for me, it would be something like this:
5. +3 single tree amulets
4. demon arch
3. lightsaber
2. buriza
1. insight
