Hey all got a 40 necro i finally got some lil things i can throw on a barb but moslty like weeding thru my enemies..gonna be whirlwind.
Anyways was wondering about some pros and cons about spear vs polearm being their the ones i like using the most.
1. do they both have the same reach?
2.Botd just curious what this is a mod and such and what lvl will i expect to see it at?
Just playing my barb in sp right now and probally not on more then /players1 for awhile ,also what came most important to everyone max bo,ww or mastery?
Thanks in advance and have fun!! Also i see most people say wait til have good weapon but really havnt found anything even with 40 necro so more or less i like these 2 for how they look...but as far as equitment only really got some set items and tarn helm
1. Yes,5 range for spears and polearms(well giant tresher/war pike)
2.BotD is a runeword(Vex + Hel + El + Eld + Zod + Eth) its a incredible runeword and can do massive dmg on a ethereal elite weapon,350 to 400% enhanced damage + possible superior 15% ed
uh well i guess being a ww barb without having ww isnt much of a ww barb now...So ill say ww is most important O_o

Personally, I would go polearm. Since, a BotD war pike will not reach the last ww breakpoint, and the damage of an ebotd Great Poleaxe outdoes a Ghost Spear (although you'll begin to look a lot like a Hell Cow with it).

He's playing single player, which means he could play a decade and never get the runes for a BotD. I don't think it's relevant for planning a character.

does polearm mastery work for spears?
No. Spear Mastery works for spears, Pole Arm Mastery works for pole arms.
For runewords, polearms > spears.
It's a toss-up, though there are some nice, common unique spears like Hone Sundan.

@Skelly
2)There are different kinds of polearms & spears, which have different range. If you are talking top of the line then botd great poleaxe & ghost spear have the same range & are lwbp(last ww breakpoint) with botd.

Botd & ghost spear have the same avg damage. But still GPA is preferabble due to lower dexterity requirements.
@FluffBaller-Not so-He can check the SPF,Atma can help with that I believe.
& yes,Hal is right-its a tossup for the uniques, bonehew & tombreaver are amazing, but ariocs needle & upped eth hone are close as well.

Hey all thanks for the advice...would really take that long to get them runewords..i got a lot now and i know countess is the place to get them ion different levels of diff,oh hell countess wouldnt accomadate me?
Yeah i think Polearm though cause would like a least dex as possible as far as my build..but it seem even gian thresher need good amount of dex so have to rethink the no shield option cause be crazy not to go for it now .
So can anyone tell me the reach the different polearms/spears got if they are much different?Don't seee it on arreat summit anywheres
Dude, in SP, a Zod rune is legendary. It's practically mythological. You can play quite frequently for several years and never see one. Unless you already have the runes involved, do not bother making a SP build plan that centres on a runeword with runes higher than Gul. In fact it may be unrealistic to even plan on using a Gul until your 10th character or so.
